OK, WTF. Are some of the people buying Crystal Park's right now on drugs? There seems to be a couple of people that are driving prices WAY up and out of my price range. Puts me in a tough spot with 3 choices.
1. Spend stupid money to fill out lose ends.
2. Be happy w/ what I have.
3. Cash in and sell them to the wacko's.

First place I ever played Texas Hold 'Em was while on vacation in Long Beach, Ca., and I stumbled upon the Old Crystal Park. This was in 2000, and I played with those same chips. I've wanted a set badly for a while, but the prices are ridiculous. My advice, sell, sell, sell. Hopefully the world will one day come to their senses and then you and I can buy them back at a much more reasonable level. Plus, think of all the customs you could get with the dough.

What a nice set of chips. I would be very tempt to keep a set like that but for the price they could sell, I would take the money. It was a very good investment.

If you dont need the cash to buy a new set then just hang on to them for now, maybe the price will drop later and you can finish it.

Although if the price for them is way above what it should be it might be a good time to sell them and cash in on it.

Cash out, then use the money to get custom Paulsons or Chipcos.... it's not like Crystal Parks sell for more than cocaine right now or anything :P

That is so funny Scottc, we're in exactly the same boat. Almost the same looking chip set as well.

I've been faced with the same decision, but I'm incredibly stubborn. I've taken so much time and effort to build up the set I have that it would seem like a defeat to sell them off, even at a profit. So yeah....I guess it's Crystal Meth here.

I personally could use a few more of the low denoms, but really only need a few 25s and 100s, which would cost me....ohhh.....$200?!!! Absolutely insane.

I've thought about buying up a large set, filling out my set and then selling the rest off in small lots. I've done the math, and even at low estimates I'd make a good chunk of cash in addition to the chips I keep. Problem is, I can not drop $1k on poker chips and still live with myself, even if I plan to make it back.' I also don't want to break up a difficult to build set while driving up prices further for people like...well...us.

I've also thought about doing the same thing as above, but finding a partner to split the initial cost and chips with. Only thing I know for sure is that I'll keep hitting that Ebay search a few times daily

Hey Wizard, I feel your pain. I'm still wondering if I messed up. I coulda had more Chinese New Year $25's for $3 ea but only got 24 'cuz I was presented an offer I couldnt refuse on 1 rack of uncirc. $1's and 2 racks of uncirc. $5's. And that was all the $$ I could part w/ at the time and not get kicked out of the house even though I knew I could double (at the time, now they seem to be $10 ea.) my $$ back on the $25's if need be. And I took someone's word from this forum (thank you, you know who you are) and sent someone I didn't know a money order for $350. It worked out great but was still a little scary.
