Chips: 13,353 | | | Most paid for a casino chip... The highest amount paid for a casino chip was $39,000! It was a cash transaction that took place during the June, 2004 Convention of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club, Inc. That sale does not account for other, non-public (private) transactions. Also, this was a single chip transaction. There have been larger transactions where multiple chips were involved.
This is my first post to this forum. I suspect that Chipper57AA knows who I am, but for others please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Jim and I am a collector of casino memorabilia. Mostly chips, but also dice, ashtrays, cards, and many other items that have a casino name or logo. The "Gaming Ore" refers to my search for gaming collectibles, where a lot of time is spent 'mining' for stuff at yardsales, thrift stores, antique shops, Estate sales and oh yes, at the casinos!
I also play poker, mostly at The Orleans in Las Vegas, NV.
Thank you for reading my message, and when I hit the submit button, I sure hope it shows up in the right place. (I've never used a message board structured like this one.)
Regards,

Great to have you here Jim, we need more experts on collectible chips. Most of us are pretty polished on news of all current retial chips and well versed in custom chips of all types. But Chippers are lacking, and and many of us are starting to collect.
Since you also play, I hope you'll join us in our private tourney tomorrow nite!

| Good to see you on the Chiptalk board Jim. Many of us chip collectors are hopping back and forth from the Chipboard to here. Always welcome expert advice from chip collectors.
For those who don't know Jim, he is one of the officers of the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club. Jim is currently the Online Communications Director. http://www.ccgtcc.com/officers.html

I would also have to say that I have only been a collector for 5 years and I am no where near being an "expert".
However, thanks for the welcome, from you and the others. (I was under the impression I would be emailed if a response was posted to my posted message. If so, it did not happen, but as I stated earlier, this Message Board format is new to me, but I will figure it out.)

Not sure about having the time to play in the tourney, but will keep it in mind for the future, if thats OK?
DeeJay, as I understand it, the money was paid and the chip was sent in that auction. Kinda makes me wanna hit the Vegas yardsales!
