After they received my order they called me and asked me if I wanted to upgrade to uncirculated (I sold my Vineyards for a nice profit and was buying 3 sets of the Dunes). I passed at the time because it would no longer be an even trade (I would be out of pocket cash if I upgraded). After saying "no" I was already considering upgrading, but I waited until the chips arrived. The 25's and 100's would have been fine, but the 5's had alot of character to them. I guess I didn't consider just upgrading the 5's - and I'm not even sure if it was an option, I sent the whole lot back and upgraded. Miko over there was great as I'm sure I was a pain. I upgraded and bought 50 extra 5's and 25 extra 25's. I'm not sure if I got a nice deal because I was buying 1000 of these or not, and I'm not sure how many uncirculated chips they have. The only thing I'm sure about is that these chips are awesome! Spinettis customer service department is the best, give them a call.
I am curious as to the final cost of your uncirculated Dunes chips from Spinetti's. I saw a set of 300 sell for $1475 on ebay.
The upgrade was $1 per chip, at the time I think the the set was $849 so I paid $1,149 per 300. I would have never done this but I was able to get $2,500 for my Vineyards - and I was only out of pocket the upgrade amount (still a decent amount of cash). I can't imagine selling the Dunes at a profit, but I thought the same about the Vineyards. We rotate the Dunes chips in a weekly game so I'm not holding them as an investment. Just a really cool set of chips for our games. But if prices continue to increase...

those will definitely continue to increase in price...i can't even imagine what a playable set of mint dunes chips would go for in, say, 20 years
lol me neither...i was just implying that if you had a set that actually was playable, and in mint condition, it would earn top dollar compared to having maybe 20 of each chip in mint condition...
Does anyone know how many sets of these chips are out there? Can't help but wonder if the entire lot of Dunes chips hits the market that the price can only drop.
