"For one thing, there's the counterfeiting problem, on which there is scant data. The Nevada Gaming Commission gets about a dozen complaints every year related to counterfeit chips, said Keith Copher, the agency's chief of enforcement. Last year, a casino in Reno quickly lost $26,000 in such a scheme--one of the biggest hits reported to the commission in recent years. And counterfeiting is on the rise at overseas casinos, Copher noted. The RFID technology would let dealers or cashiers see when the value of the chips in front of them don't match the scanners' tally."
| Anyone have any information on counterfeit chips? Not that I have any designs to counterfeit...just curious from a collector's point of view. Any in collections? Quote: |
"That sort of security doesn't come cheap: The Wynn is spending about $2 million on the chips. That's about double the price of regular chips, and doesn't include addition equipment the Wynn will need to purchase, such as RFID readers, computers and networking gear."
| Will alarms will sound when I try to walk out with some Wynn chips for my collection? Also, I wonder if these chips will eventually be more collectible -- first RDIF chips at a strip casino. |

Chips: 70 | | | From what I understand, you can walk out of the casino with chips....no problem. What the RFID does is make it REAL easy to count chips as well as confirm their legitimacy.
It's really cool technology. I know that at least GFI and Matsui are doing it. |

Chips: 1,827 | | I agree with John about chips leaving the casino door, but I do think that they will keep an eye on those that are trying to leave the poker area. The poker room $1 chips are probably the only ones that have the potential to be taken out of the casino in large volumes because of the low buy value.
They probably figure if you take a bunch of chips from a bj table, etc..that you cashed in $5 or more for each chip and you more than paid for the cost of the chip. It will be tough to take more than a handful of chips from a bj table without them saying "do you want to color them out?"
I will be there that weekend and I hope to collect a few chips. I might even ask if I can buy a set of $1 poker chips. Hey, no harm in asking. The worst they can say is "are you kidding me, get the H-LL out of my casino". |

Chips: 2,043 | | im planning to get atleast 100 of these chips, maybe more if they look good. ill probably just ask the cage for 10 new chips as a collectors item and then just go back to my car and come back for more. i think the Poker room will be too high limit and they might not even have $1 chips in there at all.
and heres a spark for debate. im betting the $1 chip will be BLUE! |

Chips: 145 | | | I'm betting that no $1 chips for Wynn. They probably use tokens instead. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
