Miami/Bahamas Trip

Hi..

I will be in the Bahamas and Miami shortly and wanted to know if there are any chips I should be on the look out for... I have never been, and I am pretty excited. I know that Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area has a few poker rooms, and that Bahamas pretty much has none. Are there any chips down there that are must haves? Maybe even somethig I should try to get a rack of...

Also, since I eat, and I like to eat, I wanted to know if you would recommend any good food spots in either of these areas.. and I don't mean the Ruth's Chris (even though I think its good), I mean somewhere that I could have something different and tasty and local... maybe a plate with conch or a curiles coctel.. in the Bahamas, and perhaps some cuban fritanga in so florida..or something?

Always good to wander around Little Havana -- La Camaronera restaurant and fish market is our favorite spot, along with dozens of little Cuban coffee stands.

For a somewhat more formal meal, Cindy Hutson's Ortanique on the Miracle Mile (just below Little Havana, in Coral Gables) is superb. Fun place, great creative Latin American fusion food. She had a place up here in DC (also named Ortanique), but it died after two years. 8(

Of course, every tourist has to visit Joe's Stone Crab in South Beach once.

IMO, the very best food in south Florida is done by Norman van Aken, but he's gone from Miami now, to Key West and Norman's in the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. Either is well worth a visit.
