| Re: market value of BJ Playboy chips The sellers are still hoping suckers are out there. One of the HUGE drawbacks to these chips is the limited denominations available. Unless you play Super Big home games ($5/$10NL and up) these chips are pretty difficult to make into a playable set. If there were more $500 chips found then it would help the value of all the chips. One seller I've seen says only those ordering big sets (Over 350 chip sets) will have access to the $500 chips, and you will have to pay for them.
How many people really enjoy playing with BJ CIC's? I know of about 4 people including myself on CT that are big fans of these chips, but most people prefer other chips. So who is going to pay $10+ for a $500 chip? That is a very small target audience. I am waiting, I may miss my opportunity, but while the chips are cool, they aren't THAT cool, if you know what I mean. I am looking to buy a 1000 piece set which includes 50 x $500 chips for $1500. I can wait and if I don't get my set I will put the cash toward a custom set from ASM with a much better breakdown with the denominations I want, not the breakdown some dealer wants to give me.
Just my $.02
