How many people here prefer hotstamped chips over inlaid chips?

For some reason, maybe due to the nature of design challenges that a hotstamp designer faces, I appreciate the hotstamp more.
It also has physical aspects that are attractive to me. The hot process and it's resultant melted bits of clay around the stamp, the glint of the gold foil, the mostly typographical nature of the hotstamp....

I'm not bashing inlaid chips. Heck, punched inlays and a simple design get me sweaty pretty quick. But these days, I'm all about hotstamps.

Remember, this is chiptalk. I think "all of the above" would win in a landslide. I have some new hotstamps on order but am looking to get a bud-jones type ceramic, and, wow, those asm inlays are pretty sweet. Hope that helps!

I voted Hotstamp. But, lets face it inlayed chips are what brought use here. They are on every chip in every casino. Thats what we know best and have come to love. However, hotstamping is coming around. Since the old days I am seeing some pretty intricate designs and foil options. You obviously can't achieve the clarity of an inlayed design but hotstamping allows for some very unique customization. There is a certain special feel to a hotstamped chip a wow.

I voted both. I have said it before and I will say it again. Chips are like art to me. I have two sets of hotstamps and one inlay set. I have a custom inlay set in the works and after that is completed, I will be content. But it is like asking if you think oil paintings or sculpture is more artistic. Chips are chips, I love 'em all as long as they are creative.

I have both cash and tourney inlaid sets as well as two hotstamped tourney NCV sets.

I prefer the stamped ones.
It's more like a 60/40 thing right now though.


It's hard to find a readily available inlaid Paulson set that isn't god awful design-wise.

I'm a huge fan of the Hot Stamp.

I think a great custom inlay can look nice, but to me they bring the appearance of those beautiful chips down a notch.

I want to see the chips in all their glory with a very simple hot stamp!!!!

Voted even. I just got my first custom hotstamped chips as an addition to my custom inlayed Coconut Club set. I love all the chips!

I voted both. When I joined I was all about the inlay, but now I'm getting into hotstamps. My favorite casino chips are the hotstamped fractionals. Mmmm, tasty!
