Crystal Park

Does anyone know the history of this casino and their chips?

I've seen the "Crystal Park Casin0 - Crystal City, California" chips but isn't this still the same Crystal Park Casino that is in Compton, California? AFAIK there is no "Crystal City" in Californa. Why did they use a fictitious city (if my understanding is correct) on the label of their chips? Although I would guess that not too many would be interested to visit/play at a casino in compton...esp the tourists.

Also, I've seen some of these chips on Ebay and M2M...are these no longer accepted at the casino? What do their current chips look like?

If anyone can enlighten me that would be appreciated!

Thanks
David

From what I understand, that's exactly the reason they used Crystal City instead of Compton. Also, that would be why they were forced to make new chips.

The casino doesn't accept these anymore. As far as the chips go, the cash set of 1s, 2s, 3s, 5s, 10s and 20s make the nicest looking cash set available, IMO. I love the colors together.

Re: Crystal Park

Thanks for the insight! I'm surprised that they were able to even get away with it in the first place...otherwise I could label my home card room as being in Monte Carlo

Somthing about accounting for all the chips they closed and reopened. Here's some links to help you out.

State Closes Compton Card Club, Cites Cash Shortage; Gambling: Numerous improprieties are found at casino, under scrutiny since opening. Jobs of 1,000 employees are in doubt.

Thanks for the info and links! The casino's dubious past is making these chips more desirable to me!
