I've recently thought about stocking up on some chips from LV casinos that are on the "extinction watch-list". (i.e The Sahara, Riviera, Circus Circus, Slots-O-Fun)
I have, in my collection, chips from casinos that have recently (w/in the last 5 years) shut their doors. (Desert Inn, Boardwalk, Stardust, New Frontier)
Does anyone know how these chips appreciate in value? are they instantly worth more the day the casino is closed? the day the building is leveled? the day they erect a new casino on the same site? Or is it a more gradual increase in value over the years?
The Desert Inn was the first casino that I was ever in that isn't there anymore AND has another casino (WYNN) on the same ground. It was my very first trip to Vegas in 2000.
I never got to see The Sands before it became The Venetian and I never got to see The Dunes before it became The Bellagio. (just to name a few)
any feedback is appreciated!
