Chips: 28 | | | Newbie Needs An Education What is the backstory on Crystal Parks?
Why did Paulson create them in the first place?
Does this facility have any affiliation with The Crystal Casino in Compton, CA?
Why does the chip depict the album cover of Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd?
why are they so valuable? (Saw a $5000 that sold on eBay for over $150)
who is (was) the main cog in this wheel?
How about a little knowledge my way?
Thanks

Chips: 1,101 | | | Re: Newbie Needs An Education I'm unsure about the image used on the CPs, but can tell you that the original casino was open in Crystal City, CA from 1996-1997. The New Crystal Park Casino has been open in Compton, CA since 1998.
As to value, that's primarily a result of supply and demand.

I was under the impression that it was always in compton. they called it crystal city because compton had such a negative connotation associate with it. I beleive there is no actual town/city called crystal city in california.
could be wrong? |

Chips: 1,101 | | | Re: Newbie Needs An Education I'm basing my information on that provided here http://cashcoinconnection.com/USACAC/C.pdf at the Richard Edward Staeffler Memorial California Card Room site linked from chipguide.com.
According to that reference the original Crystal Park Casino was located at 20 Auto Drive South in Crystal City CA from 1996-97. He lists the same address for the 'new' casino opened in 1998, but says the town is now Compton.
Don't know what to make of that. Quote:

Chips: 1,101 | | | Re: Newbie Needs An Education Look at this page HOLLYWOOD PARK OPERATING CO Quarterly Report (10-Q) EXHIBIT 10.39 that is the SEC filing for Hollywood Park. It lists the address as Crystal City, CA in section 'A' where it states: A. On or about August 3, 1995, CEI and Crystal Park's predecessor,
HP/Compton, Inc., entered into a written lease agreement (the "Original Lease") for the premises commonly known as 111 N. Artesia Boulevard, Crystal City, California 90220 (the "Premises"). From this it sounds almost like there was a town called Crystal City in CA.

could be wrong? | You're right on. When I bought a set of these chips I found some background information on the casino. There is not a Crystal City, CA.....it was in Compton, a bad area (this is where Detroit Piston Tayshaun Prince grew up). |

Chips: 1,101 | | | Re: Newbie Needs An Education Same thing here. In truth though, Compton is sort of a quasi-city as it's really a suburb of Los Angeles so I wonder if in the mid-90s there was a place known as Crystal City as the links I posted would seem to suggest. Quote:
