Visit the Perlowski Files

This is my 11th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next 2 weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

Hosted on Andy Hughes site ( NevadaCasinoChips.com ) and with permission and credits for this going to Andy Hughes, I would like to mention the great stories known as "The Perlowski Files".

The Files can be found at :

The Perlowski Files!

Most of these were written some time ago by long time chipper Jim Perlowski. Jim is an eloquent writer and his stories of Nevada casinos and their histories are a must read. Take some time to review the "Files" and you will be glad you did.

Newbie Tip Of The Day - Tip # 31

Visit the Preserving Gaming History Site

This is my 12th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

I cant believe it took me so long to talk about this site as it is simply outstanding. For years I have had books of chips labeled as UFC's (Unidentified Flying Chips) in my binders and had absolutely no idea where they might be from.

Sure there were people I knew that has some of the records from some of the manufacturers, but it always seemed to be a hassle to first figure out who had what and then wait for a reply.

Last year thru the work of David Spragg and Gene Trimble they were able to amass a huge amount of manufacturer records that either they had in their own possession or obtained the permission of others who had them to publish.

This site may be the single most helpful site available anywhere in the use of attributing these previously unknowns. The amount of chips I have been able to identify within a week after the site was up and running quickly eclipsed those that I had over the previous 10 years.

If you have chips that need an ID manufactured by HC Edwards, Hunt, Taylor & Co. Jones Brothers or EM O'Neil, then this site should be your very first stop !!!!

Well done and a fantastic resource, what more can be said. Kudos to Gene, David and all the others involved in this project.

Newbie Tip Of The Day - Tip # 32

Visit Archie Blacks Website for Atlantic City Casino Collectables
This is my 13th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

Archie "Mr. Chips" Black is one of the founding fathers of our great club the CC & GTCC. He was also the first President of the club and is credited for many of the accomplishments that we have made as a club in the past.
Archie's site is dedicated to Atlantic City Collectables and covers Chips, Tokens, Silver Strikes, Roulettes and Room Keys.

Archie also ran a NIS (New issue service) for many years and issues a newsletter for his subscribers. Back issues can be linked to from his website.

http://www.callzia.com/dghome/acchips/home.htm

If you collect Atlantic City Chips or Tokens, then this is the site for you as nearly every known AC chip & Token is pictured and identified with its own unique numbering system.

Well worth the visit, even if you don’t collect AC material.

Visit Mike Behiels Official Canadian Casino Chip Guide

This is my 14th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

This may be the first site I have mentioned featuring Non-US Chips or tokens. Mikes Fantastic site features chips from all over the Canadian regions. Similar to Greg Susongs Chip Guide, you are prompted to choose a Province, and it will then link to Casinos known in that region.

Each Casino shows scans of known chips sorted by denomination with some general information about the casino open and close dates if known. They are also uniquely numbered.

If you collect Canadian chips, This is the place to visit as there are lots of great chips shown that few have ever seen.

Visit Allen Banick's Official Colorado Chip Reference Site

This is my 15th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

http://www.cochips.com/guide/cography.html

Collect Colorado Chips & Tokens ????? If you do then this is a must visit site.
Similar to many of the other inline guides, Allen lists these Chips & Tokens by casino name.

Each chip and token is given its own specific catalogue number for reference as well.

One of the best parts on this guide, and my particular favorite part is the Casino Pictures shown for each Casino listed. You can get a real feel what these smaller casinos feel like by looking at the pictures.

Allen also offers several Price Guides that can be purchased from his site along with lots of other chips for sale and current Colorado Casino information that can also be linked from the guide.

This is a well put together site and in my opinion worth the visit it only to see the pictures.

Visit Rich Hannover's Ivory & Crest & Seal Site

This is my 16th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

http://www.oldpokerchips.com/

Rich has put together by far the most comprehensive online guide to Crest & Seal and Ivory chips anywhere, PERIOD. Some of the chips shown on this site are absolutely amazing and many are the only known examples so this may be your only chance to see these great chips.

The site is well organized and each category of chips are organized by region and type. There is also a comprehensive listing of Moose Lodges and BPOE Elks club chips. Since many chips of this type are difficult to attribute, this guide is an invaluable resource to identify chips that carry just a picture or logo.

I highly recommend a visit to Rich's site as you will be completely amazed by the collection of chips shown which can be described as nothing less than outstanding. This is one of my favorite sites to visit.

Newbie Tip Of The Day - Tip # 36

Visit John Long's Ships & Chips Cruise Chip Site

This is my 17th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

http://shipsandchips.net/

Since I personally don’t collect Cruise Ship Chips or Tokens, I have to be honest that I don’t spend a lot of time on John's site. I can however say that for those that do collect "Wet" Chips & Tokens, this looks like the place to be. This site has what I believe to be the most comprehensive listings and scan of chips and tokens from cruise chips from all over the world.

Sorted by cruise line and then by ship, you can browse all the listings simply and easily. When you click on each chip it brings up a better scan along with facts about the ship, some additional links and even notes about how the chips were obtained.

From what I understand John is one of the best known experts in the field of "Wet" chips and his site is very well done.

Visit Paul Hegge's Visual Chip Rack

This is my 18th in a series of posts related to available online resources.

Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a different resource site each day. Each of these sites has invaluable information to make your collecting experience all it can be.

http://www.silver-state-treasures.com/

For those of you who love Nevada chips as I do, this is a must visit site.
Just as the title implies, this is a visual Chip Rack and just like the chip rack, it shows a dizzying array of Nevada chip scans.

How many times has you looked up a chip in The Chip Rack and wondered exactly what that chip looked like? Well wonder no more as this is the site for you.

Sorted by either Casino or Chip rack number, the scans are easy to locate. There is even links to the casinos own web Sites whenever they are available.
Paul has done and outstanding job putting this together with the help of the many people he cites as image donors.

Take a visit to this site and I can guarantee, it wont be your last as you will be referencing it frequently as I do.
