Anyone insure their chip 'collections'?

I guess the question is for both camps, the ones who collect for the chip's sake and the ones who collect by the rack....

DO you insure your chips and how?
I've done jewelry riders on my homeowners insurance, but nothing like this.
In a sense, these things are my major purchases for the last year and a half.
If I lost it all in a flood, I'd be besides myself.

How do you insure something that is kind of irreplaceable?
Money won't buy me more chips, just different kinds of chips...

suggestions/experience/comments appreciated.

I am an agent, and most policies will cover your chips under personal property. But, I would verify that with your company. Many companies are endorsing (changing) the way they cover personal property.

Re: Anyone insure their chip 'collections'?

I've been using Collectibles Insurance Agency for 5-6 years now. You are not required to submit inventory or the like. But you are also insured for packages (sent and received) and other stuff. Hopefully I will never have to use it, so cant tell you how good it works from that point of view.

Re: Anyone insure their chip 'collections'?

I just recently had some Live Casino Chips stolen and my home Insurance Company won't cover them. They said that they are treated like cash and will not be covered.

That Really SUCKS !!!

Re: Anyone insure their chip 'collections'?

I have actually been thinking about this months, just didnt get to it yet.

I believe you have to specifically detail and pay extra for 'collectables'.
Don't assume your existing policy covers it.

And be clear on covering "replacement cost" and not purchase cost if you can.
I did this with my computer equipment & software 15 years ago, although I didnt have to detail anything, I just went by estimated total value
(heck, cost of all the crap software you buy and dont use really adds up over a decade, you almost wish someone would steal it ).
I think they obsolete equipment on you though, so the closet full of $1000 computers isnt going to cut it.

If you can think of it, they probably have something to cover you.
