Do casinos allow you to walk out with their chips? (after buying them of course)

Getting them in hand is the tough part. Most usually don't have new ones unless you're in the right place at the right time, and you find the right cage attendant to sell them to you. They may not be too excited to sell you a full rack of quarters or 50c chips, but after that, I've never heard about someone getting stopped walking out the door.

Think about the logic of the situation. Say a guy wants to pay $500 for a rack of chips that the casino has invested less than $1/chip into. I would let him/her walk out all day.

I had this same question. I have walked out with a chip or two without any questions or problems. I keep hearing about people walking out with entire racks and it had me curious. I just don't want to get stopped on the way out being charged with theft because the chips are technically casino property. I personally want to get a rack of some fractionals, either quarters or $.50's, but I don't want to get charged with theft in the process. I am working up the nerve and plan on trying to pick up either a half rack or a whole rack in the next couple weeks. I will post when I do it and let you know how it goes.

I understand the logic - the "taking of chips" is profitable in the larger denoms - perhaps not on .25 and .50 chips though (the ones I would want).

Somehow I don't feel right about taking the chips without asking first.

its a casino... I dont think i've ever seen a .25 or .50 chip at a casino before

Most places dont care if you take their chips... like i said in your other thread on the same topic tips go a long way at the cage.

as per walking out with racks.. the only time I ever even got questioned was at the bellagio & i just told them I was heading up to my room and would be back in a bit... then I b-lined for the exit..

Lots of midwest and a few CA casinos still have fractionals and the ones in Missouri apparently don't hassle you either if you walk out with a rack or two.

If you want a rack of $500s or bigger chips, you better have a receipt or a staff person who can verify you bought or won them if you try to cash them in. Otherwise you might get an all expenses paid stay in the Gray Bar Hotel.

If they stop you just say something about how their your lucky chips blah blah.... They won't say anything if they think you'll be back spending more $$$

Here's an idea I had. You ask to see someone in the marketing or promotions department (or whatever) and tell them you are considering having a big group come to their casino in the next month or two. To generate interest, you want to buy some chips and take them back with you, and give one to each person you plan on inviting....but it obviously can't be ANY dirty used chip, but a brand NEW one.
I'll bet that the marketing person offers to sell you as many new ones as you need. They think you're bringing a whole group...I'm sure they'll LOVE to help. Plus, the guys at the door will hold it open for you on your way out.
Just an idea....sneaky, but it might work.
