I would like to pick up a few racks of chips while I am in New Orleans for my anniversary. Where is a good place to pick up some good looking chips? $.50s, $1s, and $5s?

Also, which casino has the best poker room? Thanks!

Harrahs has the best and biggest poker room, Boomtown is a pretty soft game but the poker room is tiny and you will normally be waiting for about 2.5 hours to play....Been a while since I played there cant rememebr what their chips even look like. Harrahs is gonna be tough to get any chips uncirculated, they have some of the most worn down chipsI have ever seen .... If you want to get the goods, take the hour and a half drive to gulfport and biloxi and get some from those casinos. Make sure u eat as much as possible while you are in new orleans ( i moved after Hurricane Katrina) thats the main thing I miss now .

Hope you have a good time while you are there, and also be careful out there the murder rate has been rediculous lately. Dont be surprised if you see National Guards standing on the corners with assault rifles (im serious).

I agree, Harrah's is your best bet especially if you are staying in the French Quarter. If you are looking for the best casinos in the region head over to Gulfport and Biloxi.

I've had the pleasure of four trips to New Orleans this year (mostly for business but one was for my bachelor party ). New Orleans is still one of my favorite places on earth. Granted, crime is much more of an issue post Katrina but don't let that deter you from enjoying the NOLA atmosphere, hospitality, and incredible food. Pre Katrina we would walk from Bourbon Street to Harrah's even late at night but post Katrina I take a cab at night.

I don't know if this is a case of a Harrah's dealer spinning PR but I had one claim the night they reopened the Superdome (Saints vs. Falcons Monday night game) set a record as the largest single night revenue ever for any Harrah's property in the world. I find that hard to believe but I hope the casino and the town continue to recover.

Oh yeah, I think I have a $5 "We're Back" and $2.50 chip from Harrah's New Orleans. I can dig 'em up and post them if you want.

Thanks everyone, but now I think we are going to Shreveport instead. It is 5 hours closer to home, so it leaves more time to play/sleep. We have so many comps accrued at the Horseshoe that we will spend less on food, and I can spend more time playing: in the room and out!
