Las Vegas $1 chips

OK, I'll try to keep this relatively short....

I currently own some Paulson Gambler's Pleasure poker chips. Unfortunately, it's not nearly as many as I'd like (then again, do we ever have enough?). I usually set up a $3/$5 cash game at my place and would like to gather a total of about 600-700 $1 chips (I only have something like 175 of the $1 Gambler's Pleasure chips, and they in terrific shape - stand on edge wih no prob, etc.).

So I was thinking it would be pretty cool to make a set of $1 chips from a bunch of different casinos to play with in my home game. I'm going to Vegas in a couple of months, so I was thinking while I'm there I'd like to gather a bunch of clay, white, $1 chips from the appropriate casinos. Something like 25-50 $1 chips from each casino. I've done my research and know which casinos (strip/downtown) have clay white $1 chips - such as Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY, Monte Carlo, Stratosphere, etc... I would in essence incorporate my Gambler's Pleasure chips (or rather, some of them) to make this 600-700 count of $1 chips.

So my question is, is it easy enough to purchase roughly 25-50 NEW $1 chips from casinos? Not necessarily mint or perfect, but something that can at least stand on edge (not rounded due to wear). Or is this simply a pipe dream?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanx!

Re: Las Vegas $1 chips

25 - 50 $1 chips is a piece of cake, in most places! If they ahve a poker room, go there. Poker rooms will sell by the rack, thinking you are going to a game. You can always try at the main cage, but sometimes they say no. The later at night, the easier it is to say yes. I'd suggest over buying. Go to the coffee shop (or sports book area) and go through the chips to get the ones in better conditon. Then cash in those you don't take.

If cage does not cooperate, go to craps table, drop a $20 on the felt and ask for a stack of white. Don;t play, just change your mind and walk away. This works best when they are busy. Repeat as neccessary, at other tables, to the total you need.

Good luck,

Re: Las Vegas $1 chips

I was thinking about the same thing but decided to do a "Vegas Tribute" custom set of ceramics.

One of the factors was transporting 1000 actual casino chips thru McCarron.
The other was the ability to play cash / tourny's with the same set.

Best of luck,

Stocktrader

Re: Las Vegas $1 chips

Hey Jim -

Thanks for the input! I will definitely give it a try when I go in a few months. Hopefully I hit the casinos at the right time...
