Chips: 10,807 | | | A Story About a $5,000 Bellagio Chip... NOT MY AUCTION! But here is a link to an eBay auction for a real $5,000 Bellagio chip. It seems that the guy that has it found it in a limosine and tried to cash it in. The Bellagio asked him something to the effect of, "and where did you win that?" http://cgi.ebay.com/5000-CHIP-THE-BE...QQcmdZViewItem
Her also is a link to the thread discussion on the subject over on thechipboard.com: http://www.thechipboard.com/cgi-bin/...pl?read=589133
An interesting read! I understand the Reserve is $3,000 and with less than 24 hours to go, the current bid is very close!

With 100 eBay feedback why would this idiot wait 4 days to post a pic of this chip, then post one that looks like it was taken with a 1998 cell phone dipped in butter?
I vote BOGUS! |

But its very interesting.. | I don't stray much from the Collector's Corner, but I did take a look. I guess ChipTalk now has two threads on the same subject.
Thanks,

Chips: 1,845 | | | Re: A Story About a $5,000 Bellagio Chip... Seems to me it is an aweful big risk for a chip your may or may not be able to cash. According to what I read you may not be able cash it. For me since the biggest chips i can afford to buy in with are fives, it would be hard to walk up to the cage with like ten fives and a 5000 |

Chips: 1,142 | | | Re: A Story About a $5,000 Bellagio Chip... I seriously do not know why the casino would ask him questions. I have cashed a $5K chip twice at the Borgata and was never asked. When you play high stakes Bacarat, sometimes the dealer would trade you a 5K chip at the end of the session to make the transaction at the cashier more smooth (as oppose to carrying 5K worth of $25s or $100s). So this doesn't necessarily mean that you won 5k. That 5K could have been your starting stack |

The basis of this goes back to the Nevada Gaming Regs, which are clearly posted at the entrance to evry Nevada casino. It goes like this...
Chips and tokens are the property of the issuer.
This means that the casino owns the chips, You can be challenged to prove to them how you got it. What surprises me most about the eBay story is that they (the Bellagio) even let him keep the chip.
But again, I am talking about Nevada.

Chips: 47 | | | Re: A Story About a $5,000 Bellagio Chip... Why doesn't someone just go to a $100 /$500 BJ table or sit at a 5/10 poker table...play a few hands, get up, cash out and walk away.

If no and you press it, they will go to the tapes.

If I found a chip like that, I'd probably go buy $5,000 in chips and play awhile then add in that $5k chip before getting to the table and start with 10K....don't know if that would work but...why not. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
