Well the top 5 all time? That would be an interesting question. A Hacienda $5 chip once sold for $15K+, a Sands chip sold for over $33K and Last summer a chip sold for $74,000+ although I can't remember where the chip was from.
The best thing to do is choose a Niche and collect those chips. There are Limited Editions, House chips, Obsolete chips, Illegal Clubs, Strip chips, Downtown chips, California Chips, Atlantic City chips. It all depends on what you are interested in. For example one of the most desireable $5 Limited Edition chips put out is the Hard Rock's $5 Friday the 13th from 2004. It sells for about $50 now but is still redeemable at the Hard Rock.

PS - And it depends on if you are planing on collecting individual casino chips like the folks at the other two sites I mentioned above or if you are interested in collecting playable poker sets, like the people here.
