Chips: 2,987 | | | Are the self sealed cardboard holder worth the extra dimes? Self sealed cardboard holders are a bit more expensive than the regular holders. Advantages are that you do not need the staples.
Staples could end up asymmetric and they might scratch your chips or album pages, hurt your fingers or snug your cloth. The self sealed holders do even hold the chips better if you like them to sit tight.
The self sealed holders cost about forth time the regulars though.
Price is approximately .03 for the regulars and .12 for the self sealed.
Do you think they are worth the extra dimes or not?

Chips: 2,987 | | | Re: Are the self sealed cardboard holder worth the extra dimes? I voted yes since I do not store all my chips in holders.
Some of the chips I put in airtites and the ones that I store in albums in holders. Most chips are stored in boxes though. |

Chips: 1,084 | | | Re: Are the self sealed cardboard holder worth the extra dimes? I voted no. I do use cardboard flips to store my collectibles and I don't mind the staples. I'm also pretty much a cheapskate (I know this will come as a surprise to many ) so saving the extra pennies per flip is nice.

I don't think I would buy the self sealed flips because I like to handle my chips every now an then. This is the reason that I don't like to staple flips, too.
Per some tips from Tyrus' website, I bought regular flips and tape (I bought some thin folder labels and cut them into smaller pieces) the bottom corners of the flip. This way I can still get the chip out of the sides if I wanted and then return it back without ruining the flip. I bought both a flip box and 12-chip vinly pages to store them.

Chips: 1,084 | | | Re: Are the self sealed cardboard holder worth the extra dimes? I enjoy being able to handle my flipped chips too. I like your approach and may try it. What I do is just staple one side of the flip - the side opposite the pre-sealed side. The staple side is then the 'down-side' in my storage pages. When I want to handle a chip, I just slide it out from an open side and back again when read to store again. It works pretty well as long as you're careful not to let chips fall out of an open-sided flip by not handling cautiously.
