I am confused on Fractionals. Pasted below is an excerpt from the 2005 Buyer's Guide posted on the CC&GTCC Educational webpage...

Fractionals are those funky chips that come in denominations from 1 cent up to $8. Yes, $8 dollars is a fraction of a $10 chip. Once you start focusing on Fractionals, you're going to see some pretty unusual chips come to surface, as well as some very rare and collectible ones.

However, when I go to Ebay and look under Fractionals under Individual collector chips, it only comes up with chips that are less than $1. Is this due to whomever created this subcategory on Ebay being uninformed as to what qualifies as a fractional chip?

Of course I would believe something printed on CC&GTCC's website before I Ebay, so again I just want to clarify.

Should I go ahead and say it....

For what its worth....

There is no complete concensus on what a fractional is. I believe that the most common acceptance is for any denominations under $1. I personally do not agree with the example that you stated because it can also be said about a $1 in relationship to a $5, or $5 to a $10, or a $25, etc.

So, bottom line, there is no "Official" definition, only commonly accepted practices.

eBay makes category definitions based on their own opinions. AHowever, collectors have submitted suggestions, but in the end, eBay does what it feels is appropriate for it's own organizational purposes.

Also, when people put their auctions on eBay, they don't always use the categories correctly. In my experience, searching/filtering by categories is unreliable so I don't even bother any more.
