Chips: 870 | | Collecting chips or hording chips? Ok I see alot of people buying up chips, talking about chips they have bought or going to buy. Myself I am buying up sample sets, a couple plaques, and am contemplating a couple of GB's. This got me to thinking, am I collecting chips or am I hording them?
Since I am not buying any individual chips, say that are from a closed casino or any that are of any real value, I feel I am hording chips.
I don't need them for anything other that to look at or take up more space that I do not have! I just want them!!!
So my question to all CT members, Are you collecting chips, or hording chips?

I haven't gotten into collecting casino chips, but I own three chip sets and am planning on getting in on the Bellagio tribute chip GB and still figure I'll get custom ASM's someday and/or custom ceramics. Now sample sets or even 300 chips won't do, I've gotta have 1000 chip sets whatever I buy, yet only 1 set I currently own has seen actual play. I usually end up playing at other people's houses and they all have crappy dice chips, which they are fine with. I'm not pushy enough to insist on bringing mine, so yeah, I'm just hoarding chips. |

I have no interest in sample chips unless it is a chip set that I am serious about collecting. If I don't like the sample I unload it.
So far I have a little over 1K (or so, it has been a while since I have counted) different real casino chips (600 of which is a playable set of $1 $5 $25 and $100, although I don't forsee actually playing with this set) and 4 other complete sets (1 tournament, 1 cash game, and 2 sets of chips... aka non denominated).
I also have a few Silver Strikes. I guess you could say I am hording chips, but I don't think so because I use my sets and admire my collectables, so they are all being used in one way or another....
I guess I do horde a few chips from Casinos that have recently opened near me, but I use those to trade for other chips I need, so that is a practical hording....
Take Care,

as well as the complete $5 set of the hard rock casino( missing around 20 or so $5 chips) | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
