Re: Cleaned Up Condy! (BIG PIX)

OK, you twisted my arm! A little "cleaning" anedote....

One of the collectors belonging to the CC&GTCC advises not cleaning chips in bulk and for a long period of time. Evidently he has a sensitivity to nicotine and was hospitalized (briefly) with nicotine poisoning after cleaning a large batch of casino chips by hand! (True story.)

Now, can you imagine what all that table jam is composed of?

Probably a blend of Hunta, Ebola, and H5N1.

Hey maybe this would work better than the nicotine patch?

Paper towels, dishwasher soap and water, jewelers screwdriver.

I get it good and soapy, then let it set for a couple minutes.
(this is a big help)

Scrub vigorously w/ the paper towels (dipped in d.w. soap)

I remove the finger jam w/ a jewelers flathead screwdriver. Its a tiny edged head, and it fits perfectly in the grooves of the chip.

Im sure there are more precise tools to use, but Im used to it and comfortable with it as well, which is key, as one slip will scratch the chip.
Nothing that Ive found gets the jam out quicker or does a better job.

Oil after chip is dry.

Cant say that id recommend this method.
Its the way Ive been doing it, but...
paper towels (yes papertowels) and screwdrivers can/will scratch chips. use your own discretion.

*edit* i also hear really good things about diamond cleaner...havent used it though.
