St. Petersburg, Russia casino chips....

A friend got these while on a cruise. One of the ports-o-call was St. Petersburg, Russia. He said he visited the casino, which was tended by "mafiosa" looking people who watched him like a hawk. When he cashed in he pocketed these chips and was fearful of being challenged to put them back. Without event, he left the casino, got in the cab and went right back to the ship.

These are not Bud Jones and I suspect that they are John Huxley,

Thanks for looking.

Cats playing dice? Must be the Russian equivalent of dogs playing poker!

Unless you are part of their "family", you don't often take money out of Russian Casinos.

Great picks!

Sobriquet, do you think there's any chance of picking up a few of these while in Russia?

I stopped in two casinos in Vladimir, but the town is too small to have a large casino (they have plenty of small ones). They are mostly slots. I found a total of four table games, and only two were blackjack.

The chips I found at one casino were exactly like the type above. I didn't buy any because they had generic labels (in English). Even though they represented Rubles, the denoms matched Vegas colors (green 25, black 100 etc) leading me to believe that they are not Russian made. I had planned to find casinos in Moscow but my one day there was structured and I barely had time for all the historical sites.
