Chips: 1,275 | | | Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip I recently purchased a couple of the Paris/Ballys $4 numbered WSOP chips. If you haven't seen them, here is what they look like:
I saw this auction today and am now curious if the un-numbered version will be worth more or less than the numbered. What do you guys think?
BTW, if anyone is interested in the un-numbered version, the seller for the aution link above has a website. He is selling them for $7 each + s/h. |

Chips: 41 | | | Re: Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip I didn't know they were going to make an un-numbered chip. I picked up #705 & #706. Very nice looking chips & even more so in person. |

Chips: 10,249 | | | Re: Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip It is anyones guess as to which ones will become more valuable....
According to Andy Hughes, a very reputable casino chip dealer, the non-serial numbered versions are being used as "drop" chips in the poker room. They are not supposed to go anywhere except from a dealer's tray to the drop! In an effort to keep the collectors from pursuing those drop chips, the casino issued the serial numbered versions, which were/are available for purchase.
So....
If the non-serial numbered chips remain "unavailable" to collectors, then they will immediately be of higher value. But...That value must be tempered with the idea that the unavailability is an artificial control impossed by the casino and that that control can change at the drop of a hat!
However, over time the drop chips will begin to get marred and beat up and if released later (years from now) the newer conditioned ones will be a very solid value, while the serial numbered ones will remain (for the most part) in very good codition for years to come, because they are in the hands of the collector and are not out on the tables.
Lastly, this is just my opinion. Others may feel differently.
Oops, I forgot to add...
Drop chips are somewhat similar to shoe chips, but generally speaking, show chips are darn near impossible to get!!!
What is a shoe chip, one might ask? A "shoe" of course is the multi-deck device that dealers use to deal from. In some casinos, Atlantic City is better example, a "shoe" chip is affixed to the back of the shoe. That chip is used to authenticate the shoe and prove to casino security/serveillance that a bogus shoe has not been substituted for a real shoe. Shoe chips are normally regular issue, live-actions chips, but sometimes they are inlayed on one side only. Anyway, the point is, in order to acquire the shoe chip, one must also take the entire shoe! Thats a tough one!

Chips: 446 | | | Re: Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip Hey Sweet post. If I had rep power I would give you some pos rep. I picked one of the numbered chips from Andy Hughes at www.NevadaCasinoChips.com (yeah I pump his website up a lot because I think it is a sweet deal), for $7 shipped. The owner of the website selling the un-numbered chips has bumped the price up to $8 now, but I picked two of them up anyway. Hopefully he is a reputable seller and delivers a quality product.
I will let you all know how it turns out. |

Chips: 1,275 | | | Re: Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip Once again, Jim thanks for your informative response. I really appreciate it.
I bought this chip ( and all my others for that matter) because I liked the looks of it and not for an investment. I was just curious about how a non-numbered release would affect the numbered version. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Quote: |

I will let you all know how it turns out. | I ordered a couple from him as well. Once I receive the chips, I will post my experience with him too. I have already exchanged a couple of emails with him and his responses have been quick and courteous. |

Chips: 1,275 | | | Re: Non-numbered Paris/Ballys WSOP $4 Chip I received my non-numbered WSOP chips today. They were wrapped in paper and mailed in a padded envelope. They are just as advertised. I now feel comfortable recommended this seller. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
