Vegas Trip - New Chips to Collect?

THIS POST HAS BEEN MOVED INTO THE "COLLECTIBLES" FORUM. (Gaming Ore)

I will be making a trip to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if anyone knew of any new $1 chips? I have been collecting for a while and have around 40 different ones that I have collected from over the years. I know I will be stopping by the Wynn and Hooters because they were not there the last time I was in town. I also know that Luxor and Excalibur released new chips recently. I have most of the major stip hotels already with a few smaller casinos as well.

Does anyone know of any other new additions worth adding? Or any smaller casinos that have nice $1 chips? Does the Hard Rock have a $1 chip?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Clayton

Re: Vegas Trip - New Chips to Collect?

I think Excalibur's chips are fairly new, and the Venetian just opened its room brand new.

So did Ceasar's, but I don't think they have new chips.

Re: Vegas Trip - New Chips to Collect?

Didn't the Hooters Hotel Casino just open? Their chips are grand inlay clays with a silhouette of a hottie on it.

From what I understand, Aladdin is now Planet Hollywood. They've taken their former, very beautiful chip with a pegasus, and replaced it with a pointless and bland Planet Hollywood chip.

I guess they are--the chip you posted is very different from the chip I collected from them just six months ago.

Clayton, I think you will find a lot of helpful information in this Forum.

In addition to what has already been posted to your message, I'll add:

New chips:
Stardust
Caesars Palace (in poker room) (Note: the new $1's are very similar to old $1's, but they are different; same with the $5's.)
Aladdin (Planet Hollywood) two versions of $1's.
Boulder Station
Binion's (downtown)
El Cortez (downtown)
The Orleans ("2005" issue)
South Coast (all new)

Not sure when you'll be there, but Red Rosck Station opens in mid April.

The Hard Rock does not and never did have $1 chips. They instead had a $1 metal token; 2 versions if I recall correctly. Keep an eye on the Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay and Circus Circus, as two of the past Mandalay Resorts casinos (Luxor and Excalibur) have changed chips since they were bought by MGM/Mirage.

Please feel free to scan some of those 40 chips you have and post them here for us to see!

Depends on when you go and when you last went... in general the latest group to get/change/reorder $1 chips would be:

South Coast
Orleans (2006 chip)
Palms (4 different 2006 chips)
Hooters
Stardust
Caesars (smooth inlay)
Luxor
Excalibur
Red Rock (opening around the 18th)

Recent Win chips additions at
Causarina
Tuscany

Ross,

Are you saying that The Orleans has the "2006" $1 chips at the cage? They did not as of last weekend. Please let me know.

OK, found the problem - I saw a message on the chipboard that was a "New Release" Orleans 2006 (http://www.thechipboard.com/cgi-bin/...l?read=492253). When I actually opened the message it was a question on whether there was one. See what happens when you "assume"....

This is an interesting study in my scanner history as well... I can see when I owned the crappy scanners throughout the different ones till I got to a good one. And no, they are not difference sizes... Better go back and rescan them all one of these days
