Don't know about the clay part but I've seen Abbiati inlays like that before (glittery outline).

Same here, but I've never heard of an Abbiati clay chip and the chip definitely appears to be clay.

I have been checking on this question and so far, it seems that these are what are called "jetons", which is French for gaming chips. I should know more after the weekend.

The chip that Winters posted is definitely a jeton. I own one a similar one from an Argentinian Casino. Nothing like what Boon posted though. Here's a pic of my 'lego' jeton.
