$25 horseshoe Arodie chip?

Just picked this chip up on ebay. Anyone have one? I dont know anything about collectable chips but am willing to learn!! That makes two Binions Horseshoe chips for me now. For some reason, I like all the old binions chips. They all seem like classics.

Please use caution!!!!

As previously discussed here... it is believed that nearly ALL of the Horseshoe chips, since it was first opened, still remain intact! Only now are they starting to find their way into the collectibles market place.

I suggest that you not look at them (nearly any Horseshoe chip) as an investment, but only as an item that would be nice to have one of, and then, don't spend a lot of money on it.

Just think. When Binion was killed, there was a hourd of silver (Morgan Dollars that were once used in the slot machines of the Horseshoe) found as well as a lot of stuff in his Estate. Like Fitzgerald, Binion probably kept all the old Horseshoe chips in storage.

The above is simply conjecture, but I suggest caution.

Thank you Jim, but I just buy these old casino chips cause I think theyre nice to look at. On my GIANT collection of 2 chips, I've spent $30 total. I appreciate your info though.

What do you think a fair price is for one of these?

Can you post a picture of the chip that you bought? It would help to confirm condition and exactly which chip you're talking about.

Re: $25 horseshoe Arodie chip?

Jamby,

I could be wrong, but take a look at Ross' avitar. I believe it is that $25 Arrowdie. In the 2004 TCR (10) it books for $60, and that is down from the 2002 edition. I suspect that it has gone down even further. I recall getting two of them in an eBay auction for about $40.

Re: $25 horseshoe Arodie chip?

If it's the same as Ross' avatar, the 10th ed. of the U.S. Official Chip Price Guide gives it a value range of $25-50. It also includes this comment after the 4th issue $25 'building picture' chip entry - "The market has been flooded o nearly all Horseshoe arodie mold chips".
