Was reading a thread about vintage chips and the need not to wash them (loss of value). Whereas I understand why with very old chips (not to damage). I have been washing the casino chips I have been lifting from casinos. They look nice after doing so, but should I be keeping the small amount of grime on the chip for future value?
I have been weeding through the stacks for new or newer chips, so the few chips I have taken are more or less in like new condition and current release. Although while playing at the Trop in AC I came across an early 80s issues TropWorld. Should I wash it?

A truly collectable highly valued Vegas chip probably should not be washed. The Dunes for example even though highly valued look fantastic when cleaned but I have never sold any cleaned Dunes yet but rather just as is, dirt and all. Most other chips from casinos outside Vegas have less true collector long term value from what I read, so maybe they could be washed without much loss of real value? Good question. But if you are cleaning chips that are currently in use at any casino, I'd say that it's not an issue becasue most of them don't yet have any collector status.

I feel that if you are going to perhaps sell or trade them in the future, then they should not be cleaned. If you intend to keep them and enjoy them, then clean them if you wish to.
