Chips: 1,828 | | | LV Casino Chinese New Year Chips Wanna finds some commerative chips for the Chinese New Year. Here is some info from Las Vegas Advisor's "Question of the Day": Some casinos issue chips in $8 denominations especially for this occasion, since the number eight is considered especially lucky in many Asian cultures. These are particularly collectible and, like the other denominations, can be purchased from the main cage of the participating casinos. To the best of our knowledge, the casinos that have already or will be releasing limited edition chips for the Year of the Dog are as follows: Four Queens: Released its $5 commemorative chips on January 27. There's a $100 limit per person and they're going like hotcakes, so they may be sold out by the time this answer goes live. Their $8 chip went on sale yesterday, with a five-chip limit per person, and is of particular interest: It's the first-ever brass-centered chip to be issued Nevada and will no doubt be highly sought-after (Matsui Gaming). Palms: Was one of the earliest casinos to issue these commemorative chips, in $8, $25, and $100 denominations. They're already sold out of the popular $8 versions, but the $25 and $100 ones were still available yesterday, with no limit on how many you could buy. Las Vegas Hilton: Has Year of the Dog chips in $5 and $25 denominations, limited to two sets per person (i.e., two $5s and two $25s each). Wynn: We were informed that their $8 commemorative chips will be available as of February 2. Harrahs: Will today release their $5 Year of the Dog chips, with a five-chip limit per person. Rio: Has $5 commemorative chips available, with a five-chip limit. Paris & Bally's: Although calls to their respective cages resulted in denials that any commemorative chips were being released, we have it on good authority that they were delivered to both casinos before noon on January 26th. However, as only 500 were made for each property, they will most likely only be given away to VIPs and not made available to the general public.

Chips: 10,807 | | | Daveyboy, thanks for the info. I need to know... what you meant by first ever brass center chip in Nevada. If I'm not mistaken, the Four Queens YOTD chip is the same manufacture as the Hollywood Park Chinese New Year chips (Matsui). But as a category, these are called brass-core chips and brass-core chips have been in-use in Nevada for some time. In fact, Harrah's still has $1 brass-cores on the tables (last I heard).
Again, thanks for the info on the YOTD chips.

Jim (Gaming Ore) Follis | Sorry, should have stated this in the OP, but all the information above is from the Las Vegas Advisor's "Question of the Day", not from me. But I think these may be the the first ever Matsui Gaming Brass or Gold (more appropriate) center chips in Nevada. |

Chips: 1,555 | | | Re: LV Casino Chinese New Year Chips I love the Chinese New Year $8 chips. I have quite a few of them that I had collected over the past years. It's fun to have an uncommon denomination chip. Seems that these chips are bought up quickly and are a favorite with many.
If anyone would like to see a sample of my $8 collection check out my scans at: http://home.comcast.net/~dlbutler59/crazy8s.html
Below is one of my favorites... |

Chips: 538 | | | Re: LV Casino Chinese New Year Chips Anyone in Vegas going around buying them. For us East Coasters it's hard to get out there, but I'd be willing to pay a few extra bucks if anyone is making the rounds anyways to get their own.
Thanks

Chips: 1,053 | | | Re: LV Casino Chinese New Year Chips The limited edition chips - especially the YOT variety sell out very quickly.
You might try chuck Smorse's Southern Las Vegas chip service available at http://thechipstop.com/ to see if he has any YOT Dog chips left.
He's a great guy and very reasonable.

Josh | As pointed out by Jamby, CCGTCC, Inc. Club Member Chuck Smorse (aka: The Other General) has a New Release Service for Southern Nevada. The direct website link is: http://www.thechipstop.com/chuck.html
But Chuck is not alone in his service. Another major player in the Southern Nevada market is Andy Hughes (some may know him from PokerStars). Andy's website is: http://www.nevadacasinochips.com/
Andy's Home Page shows the Wynn, YOTD chip.
I can recommend both Andy and Chuck as good people to work with. I recommend you get on their email announcements of new chip availability.

Chips: 538 | | | Re: LV Casino Chinese New Year Chips Thanks. I just emailed Andy inquiring about the chips. I like that he has all of these chips on the website and it's easy to use.
Thanks for the link
