Question Help me value my Paulson Scandias

Hi ChipTalkers!

I am looking for some help in valuing my set of Paulson Scandia Casino chips.

I purchased a set of 300 chips from the Paulson retail store in Reno, Nevada... when they still maintained an open-to-the-public retail location just of 'the strip'.

About the chips:

** 300 Chips

** $5 chips have the criss-cross pattern

** All other chips are Top Hat and Cane

I purchased these chips from an actual Mr. Paulson (he was in his 30's) and he told me that the chips were in very limited supply.

I am thinking of selling these chips but have no idea how to value them. I have seen individual chips selling on eBay and on other sites for as much as $5.00/chip.

Any advice on how to price them and where to sell them? Thanks in advance for any help!!

Best,

BB

Re: Help me value my Paulson Scandias

what i'd do:

-look for them on ebay. mark em down a bit b/c you're selling 300 at once.
-look for websites that sell complete sets of limited availability paulsons (spinetti's?) and compare
-post on ebay with a large reserve ($600) and see what happens?

Re: Help me value my Paulson Scandias

I watch e-bay pretty closely. Unfortunately there are not any of those on there right now. I don't specifically look for scandia's, so I am not really an authority, but I do see them in quantity every now and then. I would guesstimate that they go for around what the original james bonds go for. Maybe around $2 or $2.50/chip in qty. If you are lucky you might even get $3/chip for them.

When a guy sells one individual chip for $5 it does not mean that you will be able to sell 300 for $5ea. It just does not work that way.

With all that being said, if you are interested in dumping them cheap I'm sure that there are plenty of folks here that would buy them. Myself included.

RED ~ $5.00 x 150 (criss-cross design, all others are hat/cane)

GREEN ~ $25 x 48

BLACK ~ $100 x 48

PURPLE ~ $500 x 46

If I dig around, I think that I can find the missing chips - to round the set out to an even 300. If not, I have seens these chips in onesie-towsie quantities around the 'net.

Thanks for all of the advice - and the offers!

Best

Jason

Those are some great-looking Paulsons. If you had 50 more $25s they'd make a perfect set.

Re: Help me value my Paulson Scandias

Jason, those are terrific chips. I'll by them all if you are ready to sell.

I have some $25s and a bunch of $5s. All my $5s are TH&C mold, some with scalloped inlays and some with plain round inlays. I've seen pictures of your other mold $5s but don't have any. I just bought another 20 of the $5s on eBay for a bargain price (30¢ each), I wish they could all be that cheap!
