AD, I've really enjoyed watching your collection in this thread grow. Your latest addition really is a thing of beauty! I'm definitely looking forward to some more additions!

There are always new chip finds, so just be careful about bidding on rare chips. That being said, it's a beautiful peice and I still think you got it for a great price. Very nice pickup!
Sorry about that!! I didn't see who else was bidding in the flurry at the end. I tend to check if there are other CTers, but I was waiting to pounce on the confirm bid button....

I do tend to be careful. I just didn't want to run into a case where I'd never see it again. Maybe that's bad of me....

Hmm... if there are other CCs that you see (that you aren't necessarily planning on bidding on yourself) that your "dealer" has info on, would you mind passing it on. It might help prevent future regrets.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I did OK, and I sure am enjoying it!

No worries, bro! ! My motto is that there's always another chip that I can and will buy.

Also, don't worry if another CT'r is bidding on it. This is a great chip in this collection! Plus, you wanted it, you bid for it, and you won it! It's super sweet!

Re: A.D.'s California Club Collection

Gang,

In the OP is the promised proper scan of the 4th edition $25 now posted alongside the 4th ed. $100. It's here as well, just to make navigating around easier.

Finally (for this update), the 7th edition 25-cent chip. These are pretty common, but I've been searching for one that is in relatively good condition. Most that I see are heavily worn and have a yellowed inlay. This one looked good enough to go ahead and get.

It's unique amongst the CC chips in that it has the photo of the standing bear and has the lettering and denomination on the sides. Really a very distinct inlay. It's a shame they didn't use it for more of their chips.

Enjoy!

Re: A.D.'s California Club Collection

All,

Uno Mas!

This is one of the numerous 7th edition $5s, each with a different colored edge spots, this one being salmon. There were two others up on ebay at the same time. This was the first to end (I sniped it). The other two had the max bid raised by the person I sniped, so I missed out on them (they wanted them more than I did, so that's OK).

It will be fun to try to pick up the rest of these. I don't have the Chip Rack with me, but I think it's 6 or 7 more....

This is also my favorite of your CC chips. About how much do they sell for in the better conditions?

This chip was my first chip purchase....although mine is dinged, smooth and yellowed, it is still my favorite.
Yours, sharp!

This one ran me $11. It really is one of the better ones I've seen. The texture on the bulk of the chip is worn, and the edges rounded. I didn't try to stand it on edge as I figured that would have been futile. I was happy that the inlay was not yellowed and it was probably a given that short of hidden uncirculated chips floating about (or someone who pocketed a new one), this is probably pretty typical of what can be found on the good end.

Still a pretty cool chip, and common enough that most people who want one for a collection can probably get one without too much difficulty.

Thanks for the kind words all.

A.D. (Gil)

Re: A.D.'s California Club Collection

Everyone,

Two more to add. As usual they're in the OP, but here for convenience as well.

The third of the 7th edition $5 chips... each with a different color edge spot. This one is in black. One just like it was the one that went for much more than I was willing to put up a couple weeks back. I guess good things come to those with patience. This one might as well be straight out of the box. It's not dusty, but is definitely crispy clean.

The 2nd. edition $0.25 chip. This was the last of the three that I needed to get to complete that edition, and I managed a very nice one. That said, it's not really complete as there is a $25 chip that is yellow with red spots that is listed as being very rare. I haven't even seen a picture of it, which is pretty sad. It would be nice to get, but unless there is a hoard of them floating around that nobody knows about, I see that as rather unlikely.

It turns out (by looking at the Pokerchips.com site) that they (well, probably Burt Co.) were responsible for making these 2nd edition chips. At some point, I should bug the folks there to see if they have any more info on them (numbers produced???) and to see if they were responsible for any other California Club chips. (On a related side note, I suspect that Taylor and Company were responsible for the 4th edition as I just saw a promo chip for them on the T-mold).

Enjoy!
