I'm not much of a chip collector, but I couldn't escape the CC>CC convention without lightening my wallet a bit. You can see the convention-related chips I scored in
this thread.
The variety of chips available at the convention is simply overwhelming. It would really help if you had some specialization in mind. I thought of going for chips from a certain location, different molds, different edgespots (e.g. dovetailed, quartered, etc.), designs (e.g. airplanes), or whatnot.
One thing that caught my eye was some brass chips from
Hollywood Park (Those Chineese New Year "year of the ..." chips). I already have several sets of the newer Matsui and Chipco chips in this series, so I went for the older ones:
1997: Year of the Ox
1998: Year of the Tiger
1999: Year of the Rabbit
2000: Year of the Dragon
Then, I got a set of
brass chips, the "Top of the Vine":
A few misc brass chips (I avoided all the costly ones ... I'm still a bottom-feeder.)

The purple chip there is the $25 Top of the Vine chip that goes with the set above, and the Red/Copper chip is a $4 Top of the Vine.
I also got a Matsui brass $8 Year of the Dog chip from Four Queens. It's a lot like the red Matsui brass sample chips, except it's brown.
At one booth, when asked what I collected, I replied "Hollywood Park chips", and one of the other shoppers gave me a lecture that I really should "branch out a little more". I did manage to get a few more chips that caught my eye...
Some Egyptian Stuff:
The first thing I bought was a Silver Strike:

Then, this set of gaming tokens caught my eye:

I was told that these were actually used in their slot machines for a brief time, but that they didn't work out very well, so they were removed from play.
Finally, I got a great deal on this Chipco sample:
The next batch of stuff is for my son, who collects
Palms Playboy chips:

That's a complete set of the Palms Playboy silver strikes. Last night, my wife and I went to the Palms, and won 16 of their newer silver strikes.
Stackers:
The real highlight acquisition for me was finding these series of chips that stack:

(Sorry for the snapshot-quality of these pics.... If any of you would like to get a better look at any of these, let me know and I'll take better pics when I get home.)
