One of my least favorite home poker chip sets from my collection

I'd guess most of you have seen this style set since I was told by the manager of the Horseshoe gift shop that 150 of these sets were produced. You'd think that after 50+ years in business that Binion's Horseshoe would have put out a truly spectacular home poker chip set to commemorate the removal of the Horseshoe name. Unfortunately, I think this set left most people far from impressed. The wood case is pretty neat. However, the cardboard box that everything came in says the chips are real clay (made in China). To me they to be a poorly designed chip. What is truly unusual is that several of the colors won't stack corectly. You can get them stacked to around 10 high before they start falling over. Anyone else got one of these sets? If so have you figured out how to get them to stack to at least 20 high? Oh well I guess I should be thankful that at least Binion's Horseshoe put out a set before they changed over to just Binions.

I have to agree that those are pretty ugly chips, but come on, they are mighty interesting too. And I LOVE the box: I would have bought the set for the box alone! And 150 sets doesn't seem like a lot to me...

I'm partially kidding with my post. I tend to be a little on the sarcastic side. Hopefully, no one was offended. Acutally, overall I think it is a pretty neat set.

It is just I had a different vision in mind when I found out that the Horseshoe was having a commemorative chip set made. I imagined real clay chips because they were telling everyone that. However, they decided to go to china to have their "real clay chips" made. With their "connections" they could have made a spectucular set.

The original set cost $299. It is my opinion that almost anyone would have paid twice as much to have the quality. But, you're very correct that the box is very neat and I am definitely glad they made a commemorate set versus nothing at all.

Re: One of my least favorite home poker chip sets from my collection

While the box is quite nice the chips seem to suffer from a lack of imagination and originality.
