Re: small challenge...

if you play a 10k sng with this for 10 people you are going to have to make change alot in the early rounds. you are only giving people 8 100s when the blinds are 50/100,100/200, 150/300, 200/400,300/600, you are going to need a lot of 100s.

Typically the workhorse chip is the second domination. then you can reduce the amounts in half then 1/4.

I had a 100 more chips in my set up becuase you said you wanted 400.

Having your largest denom your most plentiful is not needed.

if you really want to play 10k starting stacks then goto
100 25s,200 100s, 100,500s, 100 1000s
But you can cut the 500 and 1000s in half and just play a 5k starting stack.

100 x T1000

allows you to play T10k freezeouts. If you want to plays T10k rebuys, add 50 x T5000. You absolutely don't need any T25,000 chips.

Re: small challenge...

i forgot I have 30 extra chips coming too (bounty and showem chips)

so I really only need 350-370 chips (420 ASM cash chips or 400, dpending on if I want to case up 400 or 420 in the birdcage to top off 800 full count)

sooo...if I leave off the extra 20 chips from asm that is exactly 400. minus the special 30 chips and I have now 370 tournament chips to work with.

Re: small challenge...

EDIT:going with this (changed it to be able to bring it up to about 900 total with cash game set. I will then get a 100 chip heads up set made or something to fill cage up to 1000.)

125 x $25
125 x $100
85 x $500
105 x $1000
25 x $5000

25x Show em and 15 x Bounty

505 total chips (35 extras)
***the extra 5 in each denom is for broken or lost or give outs***

thanks all that helped out.. here is a picture of the colors with art.. (2nd row down I picked. green, black)

Re: small challenge...

Will be nice looking chips. I like dollar signs on the denom as it gives a more casino feel. But that is personal preference.

Re: small challenge...

ya but I didnt want to associate money with these chips if you know what I mean. just units of measurement

I like the off white background a lot. cash game is black inlays and tournament is off white decals. yaaaayyyy

Re: small challenge...

They will work great. I would encourage you to have different poker night themes. One night do all cash game. On another night do 10k tournement with a good size buy in.You can always do a cash game after but do a real tournament with a schedule that will last 1 1/2 to 2 hours. can also plan on doing 2 tournaments is a single night. A tournement is a great stratedgy game. Much different then cash. By mixing in real tournements with your cash games you will expand your play. Playing heads up for first prize vs second is alot of fun. you can make it easier on the new people by flattening the payout and alow rebuys in the early levels. Alot of the time if you are doing back to back the top people will usually chop unless one is way out front.

My main point is do not do the tournement as an after thought or lead in to the "real game". But commit to it and you will find out it is alot of fun.

Re: small challenge...

thanks. the only worry I have with having a hour or so long tournament before a cash game is people who bust out first few spots, they just sit around. I only have 1 table. I do have a games room with nice dart board and either a air hockey table or foos ball. and big screen tv in the living room to watch whatever is on...

maybe thats why just only have a tournament night. so if your out your out and can go home?

Re: small challenge...

I've seen players who bust out early take their chairs to a coffee table or any flat surface to play a short-handed cash game. The classic was Guinness and jbutler sitting on the floor at MMMM playing HUONCHAIR (heads up on a chair).
