I also prefer .05, .10, .50, 2 for NL5 & NL10. It helps to keep the overall pots smaller, which is the intention of these low stakes. You find people making bets like .30 and .40 using dimes whereas if you have nickels and quarters, everyone bets in quarter increments (.50, .75). At least that's my experience.

Wow...thats a point i haven't considered yet...but it sounds very plausible.

If people don't make there bets by adding blinds and the potsize and so on, this will really be very likely.

Re: Which denoms on a NL10 cash set?

I was considering a .05 chip for my set but went with a NCV instead and made it pink so that it can be used as a 2.50 or whatever when the group decides to play bigger. I did NCV, .25, 1, 5, 20

Re: Which denoms on a NL10 cash set?

those chips look awesome, i'd say get the set you have made up in a nice .25/.50 set up with lots of $1 and $5 chips and just use some cheaper chips for $0.05 chips until your friends get tired playing with them. Its a shame to buy a denominated chip that would be considered all but obsolete by most gamblers. Other option is to remove the $ sign and have the # play as the value you give it, ie 5 = 5 cents and 500 = $5 or whatever. I have 200 pristine Paulson Pharaoh quarters i bought from someone un-used and after 5 games they are still un-used by me. Sure was alot of coin for chips i will rarely ever use.
Also consider making the game pot limit or spread limit instead of No limit if your players are worried about losing their fortunes lol

I prefer dime & fifty-cent chips in a microstakes game, but this is a very good point. I sold off my "dimes" set to provide funds for a different set, and now just use Chipco Unicorns for nickels with a Paulson .25, 1, 5, 25 set. No one seems to mind mixing plastic and clay chips. Well, maybe I do a little.

That said, if you're thinking you might get clay somewhere down the line, you could keep this set as your micro denominated set, and add a larger stakes set to it. Otherwise, at some point you (and possibly your poker buddies) will probably want to move up in stakes. If you want to allow for that you could either go non-denominated in a 40-40-20 ratio (or similar), or use coins for smaller values...

These chips will be stocked and available to public pretty soon. So if I want to raise the limit I can add chips at any time.
The seller is thinking about getting a sponsored forum here, so I hope you will see more pretty soon. PilsBier is an awsome "new" chipartist.
