Chips: 10 | | | Flexible 1000 chip set I am planning to order a set of 1000 of the PI Private Cardroom chips, but wanted some advice on how many chips of each value to include. Here's my situation:
Sometimes I host a micro .25/.50 cash game, with a buy in of $20 or $25. Other times I have a $1/$2 cash game, with a $100 buy in. Either way, we usually have a full table of 10.
I am hoping to work out a set that could be used for those games and also for a 2 table tournament where people don't have super small stacks.
Here's what I am thinking about for a breakdown:
.25 x 160
1 x 200
5 x 300
25 x 180
100 x 140
500 x 20
For the .25/.50 game, we would have starting stacks of
.25 x 16 = $4
$1 x 16 = $16
First 4 rebuys would be $1 x 10 + $5 x2, using $5's after that
For the $1/$2 game, starting stacks would be
$1 x 20 = $20
$5 x 16 = $80
First 7 Rebuys could be in $5's, using $25's after that
For a tournament set T1000, starting stacks of
5 x 15 = 75
25 x 9 = 225
100 x 7 = 700
Add 1 x $500 for a T1500
I recognize that I would not have any room for re-buys or color-up in a T1500 tournament format and would be pretty tight on doing a color-up in a T1000 (having to use the 500's to buy 100's to buy 25's to get rid of the 5's).
I realize that I am trying to squeeze a lot out of a set here - does this sound like it would work? Any suggestions? | | Sponsored Links | |

Chips: 527 | | | Re: Flexible 1000 chip set If you are trying to get a few more chips for your bucks, you could drop the .25 chip and just use the 25 chip for both a quarter and $25. That is what I do with my set and it works great. Since there isn't a dollar sign on the chip, it shouldn't be an issue. And you will never be using a quarter and $25 at the same time. Then you could then get 120-160 chips of a higher denom for color ups and rebuys. Also, when we play for $20 buyins at .25/.50, we start with 12 x $0.25, 12 x $1, and 1 x 5. All rebuys are done with $5s. Even then the guys I play with are always trying to color up their quarters. They hate having all those .25s on the table...
Good luck with your decision! Are you currently in C'ville or just a grad/fan? I grew up there and am down the road in Richmond... |

Chips: 10 | | | Re: Flexible 1000 chip set I spent seven of the best years of my life in Charlottesville, but have come back home to Fairfax.
Thank God that I didn't play poker back then - I might never have made it out alive....
Good thought on the 25's - I had considered using an undenominated chip, but your idea actually makes more sense.
I do like those pink quarters, but if I use the 25 for quarters I could buy more of the 1's, 25's, and 100's plus buy a few big chips too.
Hmmmmm..... |

I have 5s, 25s, 100s, and 500s. When people want to play cash (and don't want to use my ceramics of .25, 1, 5) we just make them as posted above. It works fine and every body continues to love playing with the Proteges...
I have:
150 x $5
150 x $25 (or 25 cents if cash)
100 x $100 (or $1)
50 x $500 (or $5)
All with just 450 chips. Imagine how many you could get if you just stuck to these denoms!!!
I've never run out of chips for my group... We play for $20, which leaves me enough for 10-15 rebuys (I forget exactly how much). Plenty for my group. If we were ever to run out, we'd just put the cash on the table and make it playable, but again, never an issue. |

Chips: 10 | | | Re: Flexible 1000 chip set I am planning on getting a set of 1,000 - so I don't need to scrunch too much.
I was thinking of going from 160 x .25 down to only 120. That would free up 40 chips for me to spread over higher denoms.
Does that make sense - should i buy 20 more 100's and a stack of 20 1000's? |

Chips: 527 | | | Re: Flexible 1000 chip set I don't feel like 1000s are needed, but I only play T1000, not T1500. I feel like the 100s are where you will need the most in a cash game as well as a tourney... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
