I am trying to determine what the best breakdown will be for a set of the PI Private Cardroom chips. At 30 Cents a chip I think this is my chance to have a set big enough to accomodate a big group without resorting to dice chips or getting a load of Nexgens stamped.
I want to have a T10,000 freezout for about 30 players (Texas Hold'em) or have a T5000 with a rebuy option (or a chance to accomodate larger tourneys if my new campus has a bunch of grad student card junkies). If I accomodate these numbers, and add some 5's then I can also host smaller stud or mixed games (they will probably never go beyond 7 players) or a deep stack tournament.
I think using the following starting stacks is the best option (it seems to be the standard casino breakdown):
8 X T25
8 X T100
2 X T500
3 X T1000
1 X T5000
I know that having a smaller number of T500s may not be sensible, but it saves a few chips over time and they can be brought in during the first color up if there aren't enough. I also thought about having 12 X T25 to start buy don't know if it is necessary.
This would bring me to believe that having the following total chip counts I should be able to cover color ups, rebuys, etc (as well as a few to cover a lost chip or two over time)
260 X T25
320 X T100
140 X T500
180 X T1000
140 X T5000
If the T25,000 (chip or plaque) comes to pass then I would add a few of those if I need them (what do you think?). I think it would make heads up a lot easier because I would hate to have people pushing 7 or 8 stacks of T500s out once the table thins out. I also would add about 200 X T5 for the stud option I mentioned above.
I will also be ordering chips for a cash game and this should bring my total chip count to about 2000. Can anyone provide some advice on any or all of this? I think this is right but wouldn't be surprised if there is a better way to get this done. I am not totally sure about the color ups so my numbers might not be perfect.
Based on a T10k for 30 players. the minimum chips you need (with your starting stack 8-8-2-3-1) is ...
240 x T25
300 x T100
120 x T500
150 x T1000
30 x T5000
That's 840 chips.
If you plan on 8-8-4-2-1
240 x T25
300 x T100
180 x T500
150 x T1000
30 x T5000
That's 900 chips. Fill in the extra 100 however you want.
