Chips: 49 | | | T1000 breakdown advice About to buy another tourney set, and want to make sure I'm running an optimum set up.
T1000 tourney. 10 seats. 1 Rebuy.
Starting Stack:
10 x T1
13 x T5
5 x T25
3 x T100
1 x T500
32 chips = T1000
(I like at least 30 chips to start. Personal preference. Actually, I'd prefer 40, but I'm no mathhammer)
I have 500 chips at:
100 x T1
200 x T5
100 x T25
75 x T100
25 x T500
Am I in the right neighborhood here? Tweaks?
Thanks in advance. |

I like that your option boosts the starting stack to 41 chips.
What would the blind structure look like?
Would the T5's become obsolete in short order?
Do you think T500 chips are necessary at all?
How would you break down the 500 chip set to accomodate 10 players and the 1 rebuy? |

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: T1000 breakdown advice Here's what I use for my T1,500 tourney:
5/10
10/20
15/30
20/40
25/50
30/60
40/80
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300
200/400
250/500 (we've made it to this level once...)
300/600
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
I don't do re-buys, but if everyone in your game re-buys once you can expect it to last a little longer. I'd get the following (I'm sure there will be plenty of other suggestions too ):
200 x T5
200 x T25
180 x T100
20 x T500 (for rebuys)
Of course a lot of variables can come into play that would change the breakdown: do you want to accommodate more/fewer players, do you want the set to be more versatile (T1000, T5000, and maybe even T5000?). There's a lot to consider.

- I like 40 or more chips in a starting stack
- Links very gradual blinds schedule means you don't need the T1 chip

I love the fewer denoms and the greater starting stacks.
It's weird, I looked over the breakdown articles here and on HPT, and they don't mention the preference for only 3 denoms. I realize the articles were written a while ago.
Maybe the game has matured since they were written?
Links, I forgot to mention that I shoot for a 2 to 2.5 hour tourney. Would that need a change to the blind structure? Or just shorten the levels? |

Chips: 187 | | | Re: T1000 breakdown advice 10 minute blinds should get you done in 2.5 hours with no problem. You should probably put a time limit for decision making on a hand to keep things moving. 10 minutes is a short blind level and you want to see as many hands as possible in that blind level |

Using 20 minute levels (the minimum length I like) with the blind schedule I proposed earlier will only put you at the 40/80 level after 2 hours and 20 minutes and that's excluding any breaks (should you choose to have any).
Your tourney might quickly become a shove-fest with such short levels. But if that's alright with everyone you play with, go for it.
5/10
10/20
15/30
25/50
50/75
75/150
100/200
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
With 15 minute levels and no breaks the above should work. It's pretty aggressive (IMO) but putting a time limit on a tourney warrants it.
