Chips: 115 | | | Breakdown advice needed i'm looking for a good breakdown for a 8max. tournament witout addons or rebuys (50K starting stack, T100 -T500, 500chips max.)
i think that would be cool:
20x T100 = 2000
16x T500 = 8000
10x T1000 = 10000
6x T500 = 30000
---------------------------
52 chips = 50000
enough chips for color ups are included
let me know if you like my breakdown and/or make better ones |

Looks good to me, but I'm actually a breakdown noob myself.

let me know if you like my breakdown and/or make better ones | I've used that starting stack for a HORSE tournament: http://individual.utoronto.ca/jdunford/CPT/CPT-ToC2.pdf
Worked pretty well, although I found you don't really need that many T500 chips. My "improved" version is: http://individual.utoronto.ca/jdunfo...rai_Palace.pdf
(see last page of the .PDF file)
20 x T100
12 x T500
12 x T1000
6 x T5000
A good breakdown for the set would be:
160 x T100
100 x T500
160 x T1000
60 x T5000
20 x T10,000
Colour-up the T100's (and T500's) directly to T1000's, and the T1000's directly to T10,000s. You'll find it's more useful to have lots of T1000s and T10,000s, and fewer T500s and T5000s, whenever possible. Simplifies betting. In fact, I might even suggest going with 50 x T5000s and 30 x T10,000s. |

great reply
i think i will take you "improved" breakdown because i don't want to have 5 denoms. i will do a plaque addon (25K) so i can play 100k tournaments.
but i'm afraid of these much T100...are these neceserry? maybe just 15 xT100 and one T500 more...i dunno |

52 chips = 50000 | IMO for NLHE that's too many $100 chips. (With HORSE or some other limit/ante games, you could need all these 100s.) You waste your money buying lots of the smallest chip, chips that are going to sit out most of the tourney when you color them up. You get "more bank for your buck" when you buy more medium/large chips and change your starting stack.
In NLHE your blinds will start at 100/200, but most of your betting is going to be with larger chips. If you have too many 100 chips, people are just going to waste time betting large stacks, counting them out, tipping them over, etc., or just ignore the 100s and they sit there in useless stacks.
We start with something like:
- 10/12/18/5 (45), and buy 80/120/200/60 (440 total), or
- 15/11/18/5 (49) if you really insist on having more 100s, and buy 120/120/200/60 (500 total).
I think the 1,000 chip is the best one for betting after the first couple of blind levels.
Just my 2¢. |

I have that many T100s on the table because we're playing HORSE, so there are antes and bring-ins right from the start. If you're only going to play Hold'em (and/or Omaha, Pineapple, etc.), then you don't need 20 x T100s per person. In fact, 10 is plenty, as you'll be playing deep enough that the standard pre-flop raise will be to T1000 (assuming you start with blinds of T100/T200).
*EDIT* I see tomb1 beat me to it; just read his post and do what he said. That's the breakdown I'd recommend if you will never play a stud-type tournament. |

Just my 2¢. | I agree with Tomb1 but would change things just a bit...
- 10/10/14/6 (40), and buy 80/100/120/100 (400 total). I like even numbers... >grin<. This will work as long as you never have more than 8 peeps playing. There are plenty of 1000's for early betting and a few left over for color-ups ( I would change in the 5000's to keep more 1000's on the table). There should be plenty of 5000's for color-ups and re-buys but I think having the plaques available would be a nice touch....
That is my 2¢

I would suggest 150/100/150/100 (500 total) you could do starting stacks of 15/9/9/7 (still 40) >grin< for up to ten peeps...
I guess that would make it 4¢
