Chips: 5,418 | | | High Denomination Chip Set - What values? Working on my chips for the SunFly 43MM chip design contest I am struggling with what denominations to make. I need 6.
I WANT to go with 4x/5x the previous chip value starting with 500 (Anything less than 500 seems to low for large high-denom chips). This gives me something like ...
500
2,500
10,000
50,000
250,000
1,000,000
Novel ... but practical? Are these denominations just too high to play with? I mean ... I don't know anyone playing T5000000 tournaments anywhere.
I don't want to go with (but will if it's the best alternative) doubling the previous chip value ...
500
1,000
5,000
10,000
50,000
100,000
In my cash set I never use the chips which only double the previous chips value (I have stacks of 10's and 50's just collecting dust). But if ALL the chips just double the previous chip value, there's no choice so maybe it's not so much of a problem??
What 6 denominations would you want to see in a High Denomination 43MM chip set??! What would be most likely to get USED?
I appreciate any help. I am better at design than the actual denomination and distribution thingy (hence the stacks of 10's and 50's )
Thanks Again,

Also, people end up shortening the numbers anyway, so the high roller effect of saying "I bet 1 meeeeeeeeeeelion dollars" doesn't end up happening. Why? Instead of 10,000, people will bet "ten", and the shortening of the denoms will go on up the ladder. |

Hi Gary, I love what you have started with your "Turquoise" design! http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/739127-post71.html This special design contest for the 43mm looks like it will be another fun one. Just the samples alone should dent my wallet hard! I see these chips as being perfect for 'Big' tournaments... I am working on putting together a set for a T70,000 (T50,000) tournament for my dad's 70th birthday this summer. I figure on plenty of 'cheap' T50,000 re-buys to make the stacks deep. If I had unlimited means I would get a total custom set for this that was; T100 T500 T2,000 T10,000 T50,000 Non-Denom My starting stacks woulld be 10xT100, 10xT500, 7xT2000, and 5xT10000 (3xT10000 for a regular T50,000). I figure the N-D chip could be 100,000, 250,000 or 25 depending on the tournament I wanted to hold. Bets of 7,500 and 12,500 just seem to make my head ache, that is why I lean towards the T2000. Also with color ups, a stack of 100's (20x100) is 2000 so it makes sense to me. That being said... back to reality >pout< The contest is for a set that will have "mass" appeal. While there are many fans of the T2000 and T2500 chips for tournaments on this board, even here about half the members like tradition with their chip's values. For a mass market appeal, I would go with tradition but start at T100 and add a Non-Denom that could be either small (T25) or big (T100,000). T100 T500 T1,000 T5,000 T25,000 Non-Denom I hope this gives you some ideas; Shane Though my wallet protests... keep up the great work! |

eg Not much point in a 50k chip if your blinds are
10000/20000
20000/40000
30000/60000
40000/80000
etc. |

If there are 1000 people starting with T10k = 10,000,000 in play
Wanna pretend it's the $10,000 Main Event - (say 5000-6000 players starting with T20k in chips) - your home game final table with 10 players should have between 100,000,000 and 120,000,000 in chips in play.
Have 10 players starting with 10,000,000 in chips. Blinds start at 25k/50k
12xT25k
12xT100k
9xT500k
4xT1M
You may not even need T5,000,000.
Take the breakdown of a regular T25-T100-T500-T1000-T5000 set up and add some zeros.
T25k - T100k - T500k - T1,000,000 - T5,000,000
You may get some confusion with players not being able to do math and figure out what 3 times the big blind is, but hey have fun.

Chips: 5,418 | | | Re: High Denomination Chip Set - What values? As DiceCaller points out, these are for mass market ( SunFly contest) so I don't have the luxury of letting the game dictate the denominations. I need to be as generic as possible since I don't know what kind of blinds people will play, using these chips. The denominations have to fit the game.
Do many people play these super-high stakes sort of games? Would people be willing to modify their usual blinds to accommodate a new chip set or would they pass on the chips to get something that fits their style of play more?

Chips: 1,015 | | | Re: High Denomination Chip Set - What values? I have a high denom 44mm asm custom order on the way - I'm using it for a 25 person T 1 million tourny
Starting stacks
5k - 10
25k - 6
100k - 3
250k - 2
Starting blinds of 5/10k so 100X BB to start with - Haven't gottem to use em yet but I am pretty sure it will run like a normal tournament - I didn't do a 5th denom as I am not sure the blinds will get over 250K/500K at the end |
