T10k chip breakdown

Im getting a 400 chip set from BCC pretty quick here, I need some advice on my breakdown.

Overall breakdown:
25 x 140
100 x 120
500 x 80
1000 x 50
5000 x 10

Starting stack for 7 people:
T25 x 20
T100 x 15
T500 x 10
T1000 x 3
_________
T10,000

Starting stack for 10 people:
T25 x 12
T100 x 12
T500 x 7
T1000 x 5
_________
T10,000

I feel like Im too heavy on 25's. I like playing with lots of chips and I like the T10k structure and its what we're used too. Maybe I should just go to a 500 chip set and cover my bases on the top end a little better. Any suggestions?

Re: T10k chip breakdown

I like your breakdown for 10 people just fine.

120 25's
120 100's
70 500's
100 1000's

That's 410 chips total. You could use 5000's if you want rebuys/addons too. If you want really big stacks you could do something like 12-12-17 and use 120x25, 120x100, and 200x500, for a total of 440 chips, but I prefer the 1000's to 500's.

Re: T10k chip breakdown

Since nearly one year i play my T10.000 Tourneys with this breakdown:
16x25 16x100 16x500
That make some nice looking starting stacks.
We allow rebuys the first 4 rounds, so if a player rebuys, he gets 10x1000 and he can get change from the big stacks.
It works really well and all the guys like it.
Also it makes the players play more because they don´t feel like broke if they give away 5 chips.
Oh...i forgot to tell you about the breakdown of the set.
For 9 Players i have:
150x25 180x100 180x500 60x1000 20x5000 10x10.000
This is how they look like :

Re: T10k chip breakdown

I would suggest this breakdown based on your starting stack and since you like alot of chips on the table (who doesn't)

Starting stack (36 chips total):
T25 x 12
T100 x 12
T500 x 7
T1000 x 5
------------
T10,000

Overall breakdown:
25 x 120
100 x 120
500 x 80
1000 x 60
5000 x 20

Leaves you enough T500,T1000, T5000 to color-up.
I wouldn't start with more than 12 x T25 as they usually get colored up early anyways.

Re: T10k chip breakdown

I'm a 8/13/7/5 guy myself. I think anything more than 8 25's is too many. If
you want a lot of chips, load up on the hundys.

Exactly.

You have way too many $25s in your starting stack. That means you have to buy too many and just have them sit around most of the game, after you color them up. Most of the action takes place with $100s anyway, even from the start. You could go to 12 x $25 at most, if you just want more chips on the table.

Buy more of the medium denoms instead of the smallest. You get "more bank for your buck" that way.

Good luck!
