Chips: 6 | | | 500 Chip breakdown help.... I need help with the distribution of chips for a home tourney, only 8 people though.
Ive got
$1 x 150
$5 x 150
$10 x 100
$50 x 50
$100 x 50
Probably wont use the $1 chips.
IVe been told that the usual way to do this is 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ( as in for every 5 x $1, you have 4 x $5, 3 x $10 etc. Any thoughts ??????????????????????????/  |

I'm not sure if you have the denominations printed on the chips, but I have found that you want the next higher chip to be 4 or 5 times bigger than the previous chip. The 5 & 10 chips and 50 & 100 chips aren't far enough apart (one of them tends to get under used - in my experience)
In my home tourney of about the same amount of people for a $1000 tourney I do:
$5 - 15
$25 - 13
$100 - 6
I then have 500s for coloring up later in the tourney.
If you only have what you listed and denoms are printed on the chip, I may do something like:
$1 - 15
$5 - 17
$50 - 6
$100 - 1
$500 starting stacks.
Blinds starting at 1/2. I'd skip the 10s altogether, but I think that is just personal preference. Quote:

Chips: 204 | | | Re: 500 Chip breakdown help.... I agree with Big K about the distribution for a T1000. Players may occasionally run short on $10s, given the jump in value from $10 to $50, but you got to make do with what you got.
Alternatively, you could use the $1s and do something like a T200, blinds starting at 1-2, in which case players wouldn't have to buy chips off each other as much:
15x$1
11x$5
8x$10
1x$50
If you start the blinds at 1-2 with $500 in starting chips, as suggested above, you might be in for a longer-than-desired night. Rule of thumb is starting BB should be 1/50th - 1/100th of starting stack size. No offense wafflestomper, just my preference.

Chips: 373 | | | Re: 500 Chip breakdown help.... None taken, and good point. I always play a $1000 tourney with blinds starting at 5/10. So yes, 100xBB is what I normally do. Wasn't thinking when I suggested 1/2 with 500 starting stacks...
I just don't like playing with chips that are only twice as big as the previous. Just a preference I suppose. |

Do a T200 tournament with 15/15/11 starting stacks.
15 x T1 = T15
15 x T5 = T75
11 x T10 = T110
-------------------
41 chips = T200
Blinds:
1/2, 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 7/14;
color up all T1 using T5 and T10 chips;
10/20, 15/30, 25/50, 35/70;
color up all T5 and some T10 using T50 chips;
50/100, 70/140, 100/200; use only T10 and T50 chips.
Average chipstack per player:
15/15/11/0 during first five levels;
color up 15 x T1 = 1 x T5 + 1 x T10 per player
0/16/12/0 during next four levels;
color up 16 x T5 + 2 x T10 = 2 x T50 per player or
color up 16 x T5 + 7 x T10 = 3 x T50 per player
0/0/10/2 during last three levels or
0/0/5/3 during last three levels. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
