Chips: 1,202 | | chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) Hi everyone,
I looking to host 1/2 NL cash game. Buy-in for everyone is $100 50xBB. I need the chip count needed to host for 8-10 players.
I was thinking:
(20) $1 x 10 players (200)$1 I need
(16) $5 X 10 players (160)$5 I need give and take
(40) $25 (40) $25
(10) $100 (10) $100
Each player will start out (20) $1 and (16) $5. The T25 and T100 is for re-load.
Let me know how you run your 1/2 NL cash game. So, I can buy the appropriate amount of chips.
Thanks so much for your feed back. |

Although I don't play 1/2 NL too much, my experience (not necessarily the norm) does say that most raises will be to $5, etc.

Chips: 337 | | | Re: chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) Another point to consider...some would say that 50xBB is a relatively small buy-in. Some people might want to buy in for 100xBB, or $200.
If you want to be able to handle that, at least get another rack of $5 and 20 more $25...you can then add 10x$5 and 2x$25 per player for a larger buy-in, and you won't need to make change as often. |

Chips: 1,041 | | | Re: chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) maybe start with 15 1's and 17 5's
for 500 chips
150 1's
300 5's
40 25's
10 100's
for 400 chips i think you may want the stack to be 15 1's 12 5's 1 25
15 5's and 1 25 for the first 5 rebuys, 4 25's for the next 6, and 1 100 for the last 10
150
200
40

Chips: 1,202 | | | Re: chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) Start out only $100 buy-in. Once burst you can re-load $100.
As it is stated I should get total of
(200) $1
(250) $5
(40) $25
(10)$100
500 chips total.
Is this about right? |

Chips: 192 | | | Re: chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) We play 1/2 NL, starting stacks are something like : 10x $1 , 18x $5 , 4x $25 , for a $200 buy in. I don't know about your game , but ours goes $1 , $2, $12. Raises always go crazy. You'll need some chips, too much is better than not enough. 600 chip set is pretty good. 300 x $1s, 200x $5s, 100x $25s Never had a problem with needing chips. |

I agree completely. For 1-2 or 2-5 NL on a single table, there is no need for more than a rack of 1s. Lots of 5s work the best, but you can make do with 2-3 racks of 5s plus some 25s and 100s. I don't know your game, but it's not that hard to get $5k or more on a single 1-2 table.
My rec:
600 chips
100x1
300x5
150x25
50x100

Chips: 2,872 | | | Re: chips needed for 1/2 NL cash game (help) 200 x 1
200 x 5
80 x 25
20 x100
is what I would recommend for a 500 pc set. Although with one table, you could probably just get 20 more 25s and not bother with the 100 chip. If you are capping the buy-in at $100 and only have 10 players max, that's enough to handle 3x buyins per person.
I own 240 x 1, 300 x 5, 80 x 20, & 20 x 100
I start people with 20 x 1 & 16 x 5. I play in another game where the host only starts people with 10 x 1 and everyone is forever making change all night long. As for too many chips on the table, that's heresy, but I allow anyone to voluntarily color up to larger denoms if their stack gets too unwieldy for them. Few ever exercise this option as most people prefer having a huge stack of chips. I've often run two tables and the $100 chips have never seen play since the $20s are more than enough to handle the rebuys once the 5s run out. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
