Chips: 92 | | | 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown I'm thinking of getting a tourney set of 600 chips (possibly up to 800) but would like to get only what I might need with no extra waste. I'd like to be able to use 25, 100, 500, 1000, and possibly but really not necessary 5000. I don't really how to structure it as t5000 or t10000 but I would obviously want the blinds to start at 25-50. I'm looking for a set that can accomodate up to 10 people and possibly a few more if there are any extras but don't really need to count on the extra chips. Any suggestions on the breakdown?
Thanks! |

12xT25 chips
12xT100 chips
7xT500 chips
120, 150, 100 of each of those when you factor in color ups. Add 5 T1000 chips for a T10,000 tourney, and to be on the safe side I would go 160xT25, 200xT100, 120xT500, 120xT1000.
As for blinds, it all depends on how long you want the tourney to last and how much play you want to have. For a T5000, something like this with 25-minute levels will give you a tournament that lasts about 4.5 hours:
25-50
50-100
100-200
150-300
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
1000-2000
1500-3000
2000-4000 |

80x25
100x100
100x500
50x1000
330 total
lets you give each player 8/8/8 for T5K or 8/8/8/5 for a T10K. enough extra to color up all the 25 and 100's. |

Chips: 9,135 | | | Re: 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown For a 600 piece set I would get:
150 x 25
150 x 100
130 x 500
150 x 1000
20 x 5000
starting at 8 x 25, 8 x 100, 6 x 500, 6 x 1000 (for T10K - for T5K you obvioulsy decrease the T1000 chips by 5/player), you have enough for 18 players with enough 5Ks for re-buys and color ups. You don't have enough T5K chips to play with them only, but you will always need a mixture of 1K and 5K chips with a two table T10,000 tourney.
I would comment that after running a 25 man tournament for 2 years, I have a different felling about color-ups than most people. When I color up, I just jump to the 1K or 5K chips. I grab a few and go to the big stack and color-up all his 25s and add enough other chips to reach 1K/5K. Then I use these chips to color-up the remaining players. This works well and is quicker and more economical of chips and time. So I don't buy enough T100 or T500 chips to do color ups - just T1K or T5K.

Chips: 390 | | | Re: 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown In my recent ASM order I did the following;
160 - T25
160 - T100
120 - T500
120 - T1000
40 - T5000
** I ordered 10 extra of each, but they're just for backups and, possibly, trades.
I built this so I could comfortably host up to 12 players with a 12 / 12 / 7 / 5 breakdown or be able to just barely stretch to 20 players with an 8 / 8 / 6 / 6 breakdown for T10,000 tourney's. The T5000 chips will be for rebuys and/or color-ups.
The 20 player breakdown uses all of the first 4 denom's, but I really doubt it will ever come to that. If I get close to this many players, I'll just add-on to my order and get more chips
If you're interested, my blinds are as follows;
25/50
50/100
100/200
150/300
200/400
300/600
400/800
600/1200
800/1600
1K/2K - This is about as far as we usually get, if not less
1500/3K
2K/4K
2500/5K
Usually 20 minute blinds with breaks whenever we get to them.
Hope that helps you out.
**EDIT** jldecarlo, I love your take on color-ups. I'm definitely trying that! |

Chips: 3,046 | | | Re: 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown It is personal preference, but I do not think there is a need for T5000 chips unless you have upwards of 200,000 in chips in play. Now of course it depends on your structure and, to a certain extent, skill level (more experienced players have an easier time handling chips), but with a ten-player, T10,000 tournament, you will only have 100 chips in play using all 1000s. There is really no need for anything bigger. |

Chips: 35 | | | Re: 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown I just received my 600 ASM tourney chip set last thursday, and been thinking about this alot. After many hours of deliberation, this is what i came up with and it seems to work perfectly.
200 - 25's
200 - 100's
100 - 500's
60 - 1000's
40 - 5000's
Did this for a few reasons.
One, i keep all my chips in chip racks, and this makes it nice and simple.
Two, This is enough for a 10 man tourney, with 40 starting chips on a T5000 & also enough for up to a 25 man tourney, with 22 starting chips on a T5000.
10 man, T5000-
20 - 25's
15 - 100's
4 - 500's
1 - 1000
Rebuys are done with no 25's (if you have em). Color ups with 500 and bigger.
But you can also do a larger 25 man tourney at a T5000
8 - 25's
8 - 100's
4 - 500's
2 - 1000's
I love the size of my set. And it fits nice in my 600 pc. acryllic case |

Chips: 92 | | | Re: 600 Chip Tourney Breakdown Wow...lots of great info here. I'm trying to analyze all of it. Thanks to everyone for your help!
Right now I'm leaning toward something like this: (I may possibly lower the 100s to 180 or 160 to allow for some more of the larger denoms).
25 - 160
100 - 200
500 - 120
1000 - 100
5000 - 20
Does this seem good? |

Unfortunately, i cannot afford to buy 50 x PNY $1000s, Primary or Secondary...If i could i would. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
