i have recently started hosting some 2/5 NL games along with our regular 5/10NL game. and have the occasional 1/2 NL game with family.

5/10 game usually has 10 people, no more. 2/5 has had 10 everytime,
1/2 usually anwhere from 4 - 10.

i would like to build a set that will play in all the games.

i normally take the easy way out and just order to many.

here is what i was thinking:

200 - $1
200 - $5
200 - $25
100 - $100
100 - $500

where can i reduce some and what is the ideal quantity?

i know i can probably reduce the # of $1's.

id like to be able to use this set for all games and fit it in one nice case.

Let's look at starting stacks for each game:


1/2: 15x$1, 12x$5, 5x$25
2/5: 10x$1, 13x$5, 13x$25, 1x$100
5/10: 15x$5, 13x$25, 6x$100

For 10 players in each game, we'd need the following:

150 x $1
150 x $5
130 x $25
60 x $100

Then let's add 30 x $500, to give 15 rebuys at 5/10.

This comes to 420 chips in total, so let's round up to 500 to give plenty of spare chips, and a number that will fit in a nice case:

150 x $1
150 x $5
150 x $25
100 x $100
50 x $500

I personally don't think a $500 is needed for a cash game (as $100 bills can also play at the table when playing those stakes) so I would forgeo the $500 chips and add 50 chips to the $5s or $25s, maybe something like:

150 x $1
200 x $5
150 x $25
100 x $100
