Chips: 64 | | | For those that play .05/.10 NL... ...do you find 10c & 50c chips work better (with a few nickels for SB) or 5c and 25c chips? I've played both and each is a compromise IMO.
The dimes set seems to be much easier for people to count out bets less than a dollar. e.g., 40c = four dimes, 80c = 50c + 3 dimes. Very smooth. But the 50c chips are a pain when the bets/raises go over $1.
The nickel set with .25 and $1 chips works better for larger bets/raises, but more difficult to count out bets less than $1. e.g., 4X BB = three nickels & a quarter.
I have two micro-limit sets and I'm thinking of letting one go. One with dimes/fifty and one with nickels/quarters. I just can't decide which one to keep at the moment... | | Sponsored Links | |

Given your dilemma, I'd keep the nickel/quarter set. That way you only have poker chips on the table and no hard currency mucking things up. |

Chips: 64 | | | Re: For those that play .05/.10 NL... All are poker chips. When I say "dimes", etc., I'm talking about dime chips. My dime set has 5c, 10c, 50c and a few $3 chips thrown in. My nickel set has 5c, 25c, and $1 chips. |

- 100 x 5c = Arc yellow cherries
- 200 x 10c = Mocha cherries (need more of these if I keep the dime set)
- 100 x 50c = Bonds $0.50 chips
For the nickel/quarter set:
- 300 x 5c = Lt Blue Chipco Unicorns
- 300 x 25c = BCC $0.25 hot stamps
- BCC bonds for higher denoms, if needed
Here's a pic of the nickel set. I have a pic of the dimes/cherries set under the CT "poker chip gallery" section. Search for "bonds" |

Here's a pic of the nickel set. I have a pic of the dimes/cherries set under the CT "poker chip gallery" section. Search for "bonds" | Well, I prefer the 5˘/25˘ progression... but since you have 1998 JBs (beautiful chips, especially the $1), I'd say use cherries as 5˘ (mocha since you have 200 of them), your 300 BCC hotstamps for 25˘, have the 100 of 50˘ JBs (maybe use them for reloads or something) along with $1s as necessary. You don't really need dimes: once players bet 40˘ with a quarter and 3 nickels, or 80˘ with 3 quarters and a nickel a few times, it gets to be 2nd nature.
Unfortunately, the only chips in this set NOT on the TH&C mold will be the 25˘ (which you have the most of), so I guess you should be on the lookout for some "affordable" fractionals (or more cherries or starbursts, etc.). |

Actually, I don't mind using the cheapo Unicorns as nickels. Then the chip progression is plastic-hotstamp-insert and this seems acceptable. |

So it's good if the bets stay in proportion to the blinds. This tends to happen more when we use the dimes set. When we use the 5c/25c set, the bets & raises seem to jump to multiples of 25c just because the players don't want to hassle with the nickels. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
