New Tournament and Cash game Set: Chip Breakdown

Hello everyone!

First thanks for this excellent site, I've been lurking on it for a while now.

Here is my question:

I want to buy a set of 500 Samurai Palace chips that I will use mostly for cash games, but also sometimes for tournaments.
We play cash game usually with 6-8 people, mostly 6, and the tournaments with max 10 people.
Our limits for the cash game are 0.1 swiss francs / 0.25 Swiss francs with a buy in of 20 swiss francs (however this can change in the future). We used denominated chips with the value on it interpretated as cents (ex.: 5$ chip is 0.05 Swiss francs, 100$ chip = 1 swiss franc).
Our tournament is a T1500.

Here now a proposition for a chip breakdown:
100 x 5$
200 x 25$
130 x 100$
40 x 500$
20 x 1000$
10 x 5000$

For a 6-10 player cash game the starting chips would be 10 x 5$, 18 x 25$, 10 x 100$ and 1 x 500$, resulting in 39 chips to start with a play value of 2000$ (=20 Swiss francs). For a T1500 tournament, I would use the same setup, without the 500$ chip to start. If my calculations are correct, this would be fine also for colouring up. The high denoms would be used for the rare situation of a bigger tournament.

Please let me know what you think about it. I would be happy for other propositions.

Thanks and greetings from Switzerland

Aeneis

That looks like a very workable setup.

I would agree - your time spent lurking has been put to good use. And nice choice with the Samurais - you won't be disappointed.

Re: New Tournament and Cash game Set: Chip Breakdown

Thanks to all for your comments.

I think I will go for this setup!

Hope the samurai stacks will be as beautifull as I imagine they are!
At least my samples were great!

Cu

David

Re: New Tournament and Cash game Set: Chip Breakdown

With the set you are buying, you can do a bigger single-table tournament too.

8 x T25 + 8 x T100 + 4 x T500 + 2 x T1000 = T5000 for up to 10 players; could use the T5000 chips for one rebuy each player

That could start with 25/50 blinds.

Color-up of the $25 chips is no problem. To color-up the $100 chips you'd have to use 2 T5000 chips (if 10 players) or a mix of T5000 and T1000 chips (if fewer players). So that could limit rebuys a bit.

Or you could start with T4000 (8/8/4/1) or T3000 (8/8/4) instead, and that would give you extra T1000 chips to help color off the T100s.
For those starting stacks, maybe let your first blinds be 25/25.

Of course, your plan for T1000 or T1500 tourneys is fine too, which allow you to use your T5 chips!

You could also do a T2000 (10/10/7/2) starting with 10/20 blinds.
