I own a 590 chip set of Blue Chip Grand Island chips, which I would like to split, selling 400 chips and keeping the remaining 180 (+10 spare chips) for myself, making them a small 25c/50c cashgame set, 4-6 players, $50 max. buy in. What breakdown and what chip distribution would you recommend? I have chips in the following denominations: 25c, $1, $5 and $25.
Thanks!
this way u can give out 8,8 and 8 then do rebuys w/ $5 chips. This still doesnt allow for that many rebuys imo so maybe keep 10x$25 more to cover more (if your group tends to rebuy idk). if you can make two sets like this i would strongly consider selling the other half in a similar breakdown or just selling whats not listed above if that would make a playable set (so you would be selling ~380-390?).
If you're trying to make 3 sets, then i would need to know exactly what u had its very possible.
hmm... isn't that too much $5's? However, it's more than I have anyway. I guess we'll have some rebuys, but not too much. The 590 chip set consists of:
175x 25c
340x $1
50x $5
25x $25

I got to say it would of been a good idea to ask questions like these b4 u purchased this set. I know having a lot of chips in play is fun and all, but now i think your getting the idea here. when i play 1/2 nlhe in the casino theres only like 20x$1 in play (at the whole table) and the rest 5's and up. the lower denom chips just aren't as necessary as most people think. now your trying to split up a somewhat oddball amount into two or three sets making it even more challenging.
I feel you only really have one option here (assuming u want 3 sets) and it would be to sell sets of:
60 x .25 ($15)
100 x $1 ($100)
15 x $5 ($75)
5 x $25 ($125)
180 chips/set/$315value
only problem w/ this breakdown becomes the rebuys. if your group doesn't rebuy much you could sell 5 extra $25's per set. if you split the set in 2 you could do (keep/sell)
I have one general question concerning the breakdowns in cashgames. shouldn't it be the same as with tourneys, just without the higher denoms and without the color up chips? or do I have to put add more/less chips into the starting stacks, or do I even have to change the distribution completely?
We haven't played cashgames often in the past, but we'd like to try that out. Don't know how much rebuys we will, guess a little more than usual, any suggestions/explanations?
