Chips: 134 | | | Flexible Cash game set I am looking to buy a 400 count cash game set. The set would need to be flexible enough to accommodate the following games: .50/1.00 Limit, 1/2 Limit, 3/6 Limit, & 1/2 NL (buy-in min$40-max$300). I must purchase a minimum of 25 chips per color.
I was thinking of a breakdown like this:
000.25 120
001.00 170
005.00 60
025.00 25
100.00 25
Could I get some feedback? Please let me know what you think (Pros/Cons). All feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Peace Out! |

Chips: 502 | | | Re: Flexible Cash game set 000.25 120 = $30
001.00 170 = $170
005.00 60 = $300
025.00 25 = $625
100.00 25 = $$2500
------------------------
Total Value of cash set = $3,625.
If you had a full table of of your $1/$2 setup with everyone buying in at an average of $200, you would have $2K in play and only $1.6K left for rebuys. I personally like to have 3x what's on ythe table left for rebuys to start the game. I want the ability to be able to handle 3 rebuys from every player. At minimum, I would want 2 buyins per player available for rebuys...in my above example you would need a Cash set total value of $6k to meet that bare minimum. Of course, if everyone buys in at the max of $300, then the $6K total value would be cutting it too close.
Your issue is the small number of chips you are buying to accommodate up to 10 people AND the wide range of starting stacks you need this chipset to work for. I also wouldn't like having so few $5 chips.
I'm about to order a cash set to accomodate 10 players but I'm ordering 580 chips. One "trick" I use to stretch out my cash set is making my smallest denom chip a "non denom" chip so that this chip can also functions as my largest denom. Here is my breakdown: 130 x .25/non denom
200 x $1
200 x $5
50 x $20 130 x $100/non denom The 130 chips bolded in yellow are the same chips. Since a .25 cent chip would not be in play if I were doing a NL $100 max with $1/$1 blinds, I get more use out of the chip by making it a $100 chip for those games. Another benefit of this is that I could use this chip as a 50 cent chip as well. |

Peace Out! | That looks pretty good, actually. Assuming you mostly play limit at the stakes above, this should work. You're a little skimpy on $5s for $1/$2 NL though.
If you bumped it up to 500 chips, I'd recommend another 60 x $5 and 25 x $25 (and invest the other 15 in any denomination except $0.25), since betting at $1/$2 NL will primarily use $5s. |

For limit games, I'd prefer to see more $1s, but given all that you're trying to do with one set you've got a pretty good setup. I normally don't use NCV chips, but in this case you might consider something like Ky70's approach.
Have fun! |

Chips: 73 | | | Re: Flexible Cash game set Get more $5 chips... opt for another 100...make them $5's. If you do a 1/2 game you'll beed a bunch of $5's. If you've played at a casino NL 1/2 table most folks have stacks of $5's and a few $1's. The $5 is the workhorse of the $1/$2 game. The $1 is the workhorse of the .25/.50 game.
It's kind of hard to get a set for so many different games. Id get the following.
600 piece set
100 - 25¢
200 - $1
200- $5
80 - $25
20 -$100
500 piece set
100 - 25¢
180 - $1
160 - $5
50 - $25
10 - $100

I can't see playing 50¢/$1 Limit with any less than that! You need them for both small and big blind, and bets after the flop. But if you do decide to go with less quarters, you'd might as well go all the way down to 80 (8-per-person = $2). 75 isn't enough for any game, and 100 doesn't allow any more per person... unless your typical buy-in is $19.50; i.e. you take a 50¢-per-player rake, or something.
And evil, don't forget the 25-chip minimum... so even though 25 x $100s aren't necessary, that's the fewest he can get. |

you can do 100 25¢ easy, half the table gets 12 chips the other half gets 8 and an extra $1. That's plenty of quarters...most raises are to $2 or $3...or at our game $5.
