Chips: 111 | | | 2006 WSOP Breakdown help What do you think of this breakdown with 2006 WSOP chips? $25- 75 ($1,875)

$500- 175 ($87,500)
$1000- 175 ($175,000)
$5000- 135 ($675,000)
$10000- 100 ($1,000,000)

Chips: 516 | | | Re: 2006 WSOP Breakdown help Too many denoms for a six person tourney. If each person started with 10,000 in chips (like the wsop) the total amount of chips in play would only be 60,000. You would never use the 10,000; 25,000; or 100,000 chips. Here is my 1,000 chip breakdown I regularly use for a 30 person T10,000 wsop style tourney:
240 - T25
300 - T100
240 - T500
150 - T1000
70 - T5000
T10,000 Tournament set (30 person tourney)
2006 WSOP starting stacks:
8 - T25
8 - T100
8 - T500
5 - T1000 Quote:

Chips: 18,645 | | | Re: 2006 WSOP Breakdown help Well, that's quite an unusual request. As BP says, usually there are only 3-4 denoms in a starting stack. And you have quite a few denominations that don't typically play together.
You have almost $10MM in chip bank, and if you want to use all of it, you'd have to start with over $1.5MM per player. Also, if you want to use 1,000 chips, that 166 per player. Do you intend to color up? Then you need to reserve some chips from the starting stack for color ups. If you use your lowest chips, the the Big Blind would start at $25/50. That's very low compared to a $1mm+ stack. To me, this would be a totally unmanageable game....
One option is just to divide each denomination into 6 stacks and give out all the chips at the beginning. But this would be a clumsy way to play.
BUT if you really want to play with all these chips, then here's a solution for a "MILLION PLUS" tournament:
6 players, start each with:
12 x $25
30 x $100
22 x $500
15 x $1,000
16 x $5,000
15 x $10,000
10 x $25,000
5 x $100,000
125 chips == $1,009,300 starting stack each
Total 750 chips to start, use almost all the remainder when you color up. You'll use all the chips eventually, but the most you'll have on the table is 750, which is a HUGE amount for 6 players or fewer when they bust out.
I wouldn't do it this way, but what the hell, they're your chips! Can't fault someone for buying lots of chips in lots of denominations...!! |

I have not got any chips yet. I just wanted help trying to pick out chips to use. What do you like to use better? Do you like using the $25-$5,000 or the $5,000- $100,000 or so. I just need help. Thanks again |

8 x T25
8 x T100
4 x T500
2 x T1000
========
22 Chips, T5000
With these starting stacks with 6 players, I really don't think you'll ever need a T5000 chip. |

Well #1, buy all the chips you want, anything that looks good. This is ChipTalk after all, so any and all chip buying is the way to go!!
#2. I bought a high-denom set just to have them, and also to host some high-dollar tournaments for a little fun. We had a special holiday "Meeeeelllllion Dollar" tourney (props to Austin Powers) last year and it was a blast.
We set up a deep stack tourney with low blinds at first, using this starting chip stack:
5 x $1,000
9 x $5,000
15 x $10,000
12 x $25,000
5 x $100,000
46 chips total for a $1,000,000 starting stack.
We started with $1000/2000 blinds, but pretty quickly decided to raise the blinds to 2/5, then to 5/10 and color off all the $1000 chips. Having 5 denoms was overkill, but what the hell.
I had purchased a 700 chip set to be able to handle 10 players. Since I had to buy in increments of 25 chips, here's what I got:
100 x $1,000
175 x $5,000
200 x $10,000
150 x $25,000
75 x $100,000
700 chips total.
I'd adjust the quantities somewhat if I had it to do over again. I'd most likely start with $5K as the smallest chip, but having $1Ks allows for antes if you want to use them. I also might skip the $10K chips since they are only 2x the next lower chip, except I like how they look....
We can also host a Half Million dollar tourney for 15 people with this set.
So my advice would be to buy what you like, at least a few samples of all the denominations. But focus on 4-5 major denoms for a tourney set. And have some fun!
P.S. My main tourney sets are $25-$1,000 and $25-$5,000 chips, which I think is the most flexible mix. So I went BIG for a separate high-denom set. |

Only 5 different chips color. $1000- 200 ($200,000) $5000- 200 ($1,000,000) $10000- 250 ($2,500,000) $25000- 175 ($3,750,000) $100000- 100 ($10,000,000) 925 chips total ($16,950,000 total) *** $25- 25 ($625) $100- 25 ($2,500) $500- 25 ($12,500) *** The last 75 chips is just for fun.

We play with fewer of the lowest denom chip, since they are a pain if you have lots of meaningnless small chips and they get colored up early. So I would buy only 100 or so of the $1000 chips and use your money for more $10Ks and/or $25Ks. You get more "bank" for the buck there since each chip costs the same. |

Most people decide on the tournament they want to run and then buy a chipset for the correct number of people.
If you still want to use a huge amount of chips for a 6-man tourney, you could go with the set listed above. Then you could use this as a possible starting stack that would use lots of chips and still leave some for color-ups.
15 x $1,000
22 x $5,000
30 x $10,000
23 x $25,000
15 x $100,000
105 chips total for a $2,500,000 starting stack.
You'd end up heads up with just $100K and $25K chips on the table, about 300 chips spilt between the 2 final players. Otherwise just divide your chipset among all the players and play with everything on the table at once. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
