Hey everyone. I'm currently working on the chips for tournaments at my house. I'm eventually going to want the chips at my house to be all custom, and all Chipco! For this reason, I'm going with Chipco Unicorns for tournaments, and Pro-techs for cash games. The Pro-techs are rather expensive, so I'm working on the Unicorns first. I received a sample set from Holdempokerchips.com, so I've been toying with ideas for chip values and such. I'm thinking about mimicing my local casino, as I'm very used to their chips and they use some brighter colours. Here's there chip colours (they have no denomination on them, and I won't either as that could bring more setup costs I would imagine):
25 - Green
100 - Black
500 - Pink
1000 - Lt. Blue
5000 - Red
I like these chip colours, but had a few other concerns I need to address:
1. Having played in a place where the floor is black, I was thinking about getting a tan chip also as like an alternate 100 valued chip. This would make chips that fall to the floor much easier to find. Anyone else have "alternate" chips other than whole sets?
2. I was thinking the tan chip could also double as a 5 valued chip. I don't usually use a 5 valued chip, but it'd be nice if my friends ever learned how to play stud or something. Since the red is a 5000 valued chip, could tan work as a 5 (or 100) valued chip?
3. I'm also thinking about changing from the regular green, to a day-glo green for the 25 valued chip. I think this would work better with the set as it would make it a brighter colour. Would the contrast of the regular green work better with the set (ie can you go overboard with the brighter colours)?
The colours I've chosen have more to do with the hotstamp as well. I'm thinking a gold-foil hotstamp (like the local casino), and these colours should work with this hotstamp. How about the tan chip; would a gold-foil hotstamp work with the tan chip? I'm not 100% going with the tan chip, but I'm just wondering as to how it would look, or at least, how do you think it would look?
Thank you all for listening. I purchased a set from Holdempokerchips.com to tide me over until I can get my customs, so I know I'll like them, so don't bother trying to sway me to some ASM's or BCC's (blasphemy I know!). I'll always have my faux clay!
